Operation Pheasant, Waalwijk Netherlands

Recommended Posts

A few guys from a re-enactment group I know organised a MV/living history weekend to commemorate our liberation.

The site was next to a motorway where some schools were demolished.

With lots of events that weekend there were about 50 vehicles.

Lots of Jeeps and Dodges but also a M16 halftrak, M8 Greyhound, White scoutcar, BMW with sidecar and even a Dodge WC 43 (veeeeeery scarce).

I arrived fridayevening at midnight and luckily I could borrow a tent.

Next day a MV drive in the area.

A nice gesture was to take a little detour to drive past 2 retirement homes.

The weather was hot!!

Unfortunately my Dodge still has ignition troubles, have to chance coils after a while. Still we (mum, brother and his kids) had a great time.

On sunday it was visitors day with lots of people due to the nice weather.

I walked around as a Highland medic. Some of the younger guys had dug foxholes and stayed in the almost all day baking away!!.

Hopefully next year a new edition.
