Stripping paint on an APC

paul connor

Question

ok, i need to know the logical solution with minmal effort

I have tried paint stripper, 5 coats and it just work, so would be very messy and expencive so I am ruling this out.

Heat gun, does not touch military paint

grinder, works but messy and scores metal

Sandblast, great but would cost me near the cost of the vehicle!

what have you all done?

I have a budget of about £200

And help of about 5 people?

access to power, will be done outside

what are your solutions pretty people?

May sound dumb but i have never taken on such a large task!

Paul,

One answer, use a needle scaler. I am going to do my Sabre with it this week. You'll need one of these:

or these

If the paint is thick and flaky it will come of dead easily. I did 2 headlamp guards and an exhaust guard last night in about 20 minutes. I would say you'd have most of the paint off your Pig in a day if you get a big enough compressor and take it in shifts.

I did my Ferret in about 2 days, but that was mostly because my old compressor couldn't keep up.
