Geordie8888
I just picked up this piece of webbing. It has a number of clasps on it and a long pocket on one side with a padded piece on the other. It has a broad arrow mark and is dated 1942. I'm interested to know what piece of equipment or weapon it would be used for?
Chris Suslowicz
Canadian, manufactured by Montreal Suspender & Umbrella Ltd. Apart from that, no idea but it's probably not for radio kit. Chris.
Hoseman
Any buckles on the outside that may have had straps on? Small pouch on the rear may be too?? I have a few similar for sten mags and mortar rounds. Mine appearance drop bags, don't know if this fits in with yours. Best guy to know is Frank at Pegasus Drive, webbing maestro! He has every conceivable piece in his collection and a bit more!!! Don't know if he's on here or not but I know some of the guys will know him, he makes webbing and canvases. Davey089
Could it be an Indian or Australian version of the Bren cover with seperate muzzle cover ?, the photo is of an early British version I have , similar ? Dave
river6
It's a Bren cover with separate muzzle cover. It's Canadian manufactured (Note WD arrow inside the C mark). Looks to be in unused condition -Nice. The cover is infinitely preferable to lugging about the Bren transport chest!!:-):-)
Geordie8888
Thanks Gents! I just happen to have a Bren to fit it on to.........however, I'm struggling to figure out which way to fit it - any clues?
Davey089
Make sure the dial site fits into the pocket next to the small pouch , then adjust muzzle cover to fit
ferretfixer
The SMALL ended opening with strap. Goes around the Wrist of the Butt. Easy! Unusual item to encounter these days! Nice find!
Chris Hall
It's actually not for a Bren gun, it's for the Boys Anti Tank rifle, it's very similar to the Bren cover but is for the Boys.
Geordie8888
No wonder I was having a devil of a job fitting it! Thanks Chris.
