marvinthemartian
During my weeks hol in Dorset, it sort of turned into a history trail. Visited the abandoned village of Tyneham, walking through the Lulworth range to Worbarrow Bay. A few photos that might be of interest to you. This is what greets you at Tyneham, a lot more to be found when you wander through the trees. Requisitioned by the War Office in December 1943, for the training of troops for the D Day landings. Some of the range targets visible from the lane, seem mostly Saracens and 432's, and an odd turret? Not sure what this is, some type of AA defence turret. Anti tank obstacles still in situ. These two could be seen from the walk back along the cliff top. Simon

johnwardle
It's good to see the Allan Williams turret has been restored and replaced, the last time I was at Worbarrow Bay it was missing. On the walk from Tyneham to Warbarrow Bay there is a clump of bushes, before the moving target system, there seems to be something interesting in the bushes that look very much like a Comet! Does anyone know any more?
marvinthemartian
I think I took pictures of all the wrecks I saw along the footpath, but it's possible I missed it or it's been moved.
hippotastic
There's an Allan Williams turret like that buried in the east cliff at West Bay further down the coast. We used to play in it as kids but its pretty well covered up now. It is still sat on its wheels and track to enable it to revolve and the machine gun mounting bracket still poised. Shame to let it sit there and rust away.
