Rick W
Can I use my OD15 eggshell from Warpaint on my engine block, or is it not heat resistant enough. Am I better off sticking to original plan of using Hammerite?
TooTallMike
I used gloss green Hammerite on the Cummins in the Ward and it's survived very well. Understandably it burnt off near the exhaust manifold but the rest is perfect. A petrol engine will run hotter but should be ok. (I've also done the MUTT engine in black but that's untested as yet). A big advantage of Hammerite is that it goes on over anything and once cured is resistant to most oils, fuels etc. unlike many normal paints. ackack
I always use standard synthetic paint on engines as well as the rest of the vehicle. Never had any trouble with burning except very close to exhaust manifold. The glossier the paint the cleaner you can keep your engine, matt paint is very difficult to keep clean from oil stains. john fox
Rick apolgies if this has been discussed elsewhere, my C8 came in eau de nil on the engine and i thought that was the "correct" wartine engine paint. (I know post war its sky blue) John
