Adrian Barrell
1945 (approx) It's an M4 (105) HVSS, one of only a few sent over for us. There is one at the Tank Museum and another on Kirkcudbright range.
ajmac
Adrian, A couple of questions: Was there some issue with the original track designed for the HVSS system as it doesn't seem to stay in service for too many years? Is a HVSS Sherman a substantially different vehicle to ride and drive compared to the VVSS units?
Scammell4199
It's on a Scammell TRMU 30 transporter too
Adrian Barrell
Alastair, that track is the T66 single pin, all others were the typical double pin design. Both single and double pin continue to be used in various vehicles, not sure why. The HVSS is a better ride, though not substantially, it does have much lower ground pressure though!
