nightmare13
Hey buddy. I am a safety boat driver, you will need valid insurance, if you do get a problem and have to abandon vessel the rules of the sea are a little bit different, claiming salvage rights, and I want a stolly so bad where abouts are you looking to launch from? I would highly recommend a escort boat. Where abouts are you? Flares VHF radio, Life jackets Plenty of fuel lol! Cold beer Dont forget, Have fun! paulbrook
Who knows if they will help in any way but its worth contacting 17 Port and Maritime Regiment RLC at Marchwood. They know their onions regarding all sorts of things............

ax40
More than happy to act as your radio man if my OVERLORD duties don't interfere. I have relevant marine radio certificate and a handheld unit. Work out the tide times and tidal streams - get it right and it will add 4 knots to your speed over ground, wrong and you will be looking at the same patch of oggin for a long, long time If launching in Portsmouth harbour or approaches imperative you contact Queens Harbour Master, it's a courtesy and a safety aid if you are elsewhere as a Stolly in the sea is neither easy to spot nor expected so that the cross channel ferries and the high speed cats may get worryingly close. See you at the show, whatever happens hope that you make the IoW - even with the Stolly's fuel consumption it's probably cheaper than taking the ferry! chambers101
I was watching the first attempt on the vhs earlier. The red stolly was stuck on the private beach at Osborne House with a bad fuel line. I need to get it copied.
andym
I assume this didn't happen but I'd love to see the video of the first attempt that ended up on Osborne Beach. Andy
