Soviet colour on MV during Cold War

Recommended Posts

A "standard" colour is a bit of a misnomer because it is well known that Soviet production meant substantial variations depending on availability of this, that and the other... All Eastern Block colours are only ever approximated with RAL codes in any case. What is commonly said in the Gaz 69 German forum is that the East German green (4 doors background) is best matched by RAL6003 and that the Soviet green (2 doors foreground) is best matched by RAL6014.

But seriously... the Soviet could not manage to clothe their soldiers in the same shade of browny green, let alone paint their vehicles...

They seem to produce reactalite cloth...when I first got my Gaz 69 the canvas was nearer to the colour of the 4 door, 18 months later it was almost white. photo shows around a year in.
