I've used it before and by gum the wood drinks it in!! :shocked:

It's taken 3-4 coats in the past before a suitable depth of colour/stability is found.

 

The aluminium primer is generally used on hardwood/hardboard where it is full of certain oils/acids and needs to be stabilised, the aluminium primer is used more as a barrier coat.
