The Tank Museum Posted September 26, 2012 Share Posted September 26, 2012 It evolved from the T35E1 prototype in June 1942 and mounted the 3inch gun M7 previously fitted to the heavy tank M6. They served with the tank destroyer battalions of the US Army and the British received some 1,600 vehicles which went to the self-propelled anti-tank batteries of the Royal Artillery... Next time you visit, check out the right-hand side, note the buckling along the side, slide your finger underneath and realise just how thin the armour is on a tank destroyer.
