plainmilitary
Hi guys, was sorting through the shed the other week and came across two of these jackets. One has been put in our display BUT, we know nothing about them. Anyone got a date this jacket would have worn please??? Sorry about the snap, thats my brother doing a super model pose..... Many thanks. Tony.
Eaglehurst
Tony - looks like a 1959 Pattern Para smock. Issued 1960's into 1970s until the DPM para smock showed up around 1977/78. Is the label legible?
wdbikemad
As Jason states, a 59 pattern Denison smock but a late production example (identifiyable by the cammo print and colours), circa 1965 to around 75-76........ This one appears to be ex-Air Despatch going by the Dakota patches on the arms......worn up to 79-ish by 47 Air Despatch RCT and 395 (TA) Air Despatch....both based in Wiltshire at Lyneham and Swindon (TA centre).....:-D

wdbikemad
Very welcome !!! Ps - I had years of carrying a slung Sterling SMG around my rather thin body during the early 80s......... Never ever carried with the stock extended........2 loaded mags stuffed into a 58 pouch..........
gazzaw
Yep same one I was issued in 74 until we changed over to dpm in late 78 (groan) there were stores full of them to be backloaded and cut up with machete before going for rags, criminal act indeed.
