I think it may well have been a trailer pump chassis, possibly for the larger Coventry Climax.

 

No, not wartime. Brockhouse produced a trailer as an approved accessory for the Land Rover Ser 1, the Home Office bought some for a communications role. I do not think it is modified from a fire pump trailer. Certainly doubtful that it is of 1 ton capacity, more like 1/2 or 3/4 ton.

Thanks Guys! Important thing it has a nice pivoting towing eye , so is easy to tow behind the Dodges. Would there have been over run brakes? And if so has anyone an illustration of the mechanism? The idea is to kit the WC54 as a permenat display and stuf fthe camping gear in the trailer.
