chevpol
Afternoon all, bought this "RAF" mess dress jacket yesterday, but it has a Dutch taylors label in it, is is RAF or RNLAF? Mark
mcspool
Pretty sure it's not RNLAF, they have dark blue rank stripes. Gold stripes denote Navy, but not the Royal one as it doesn't have a curl on top. Maybe merchant navy?

We too ( RAF) have blue rings and stripes but gold on mess dress, so I reckon this is a RNLAF Wg Cmdr mess dress jacket. ted
earlymb
I think it is the old model RNLAF ceremonial dress jacket. Ranks on these were in gold; in this case the 3 even stripes indicating a lieutenant-colonel. Greetz David

Harlingen having a port made me think of the merchant navy, but on second thoughts it's only some 30 kms away from Leeuwarden AFB. Taylor did use to supply uniforms, as per their 1965 ad. It does not seem there are still in business, otherwise you could ask. Edited July 31, 2012 by mcspool
