changing a bedford truck air brake lines to pvc

David Ives

Question

ok over the winter i have to renew quite a lot of the brake lines on my 1972 bedford mk

ihave seen photos of 1 that has the new pvc air lines on the fittings how easy is it to get the correct fittings to go on the old parts and where would you get the correct pvc pipes and fittings

so far i have had to get 4 new pipes made up where they had split and have had to get them made of hydrolic flexible pipe but they are twice as big as the old metal pipes so look out of place

your advice and knowledge is welcome

Hi David, try www.tube-gear.com and get in touch with them - they'll put you on to a local distributor, who will almost certainly be a commercial vehicle / trailer parts supply company.

They do a really good range of fittings to connect old and modern tubing to imperial and metric adapters and pretty much most stuff you'll need for truck plumbing, should sort you out ok.
