Tony B
Back to the glider, it looks quite small. Any idea which type it is?
Nickmow
Im guessing, Waco CG4 but with the rudder removed and wings either side for transport. (Say Im guessing but pretty sure)

Noel
First picture is not a glider - its a spotter aircraft (stinson or Piper?) There are photos of a similar vehicle/load boarding a landing ship for D-Day and at least one made it ashore at Omaha, Noel
Nickmow
Bugger good spot Noel, Come to think of it looking at the size of it on the back of the lorry, you absolutely right. A Waco would be much bigger. Im going with the Piper L4 then, tail wheel on the Stinson is a bit further forward. I wouldnt mind but as a former, and rather smug All Arms Recog instructor, and !! having more than a few hours on Cubs and an L4 I should of known better. Still its an interesting photo. On the day I win the lottery and just after Ive been to the DUKW shop I will be getting an L4 remarkable little aeroplane and a joy to fly.
