0 Richard Farrant Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 ok stupid questiongenerator started for a couple of minutes then stopped and would not restart plenty of fuel in container and at fitting on genny just wont restart any ideas please We used to have Kohler powered 28v charging sets in army service, I thought they were Plessey, the engines were awful to start. They had some gimmick device in the camshaft that lifted the valve to reduce compression until the engine revolved fast enough for centrifugal weights to release the valve. This meant that the engine had to be pulled over fast in order for it to fire. You best check spark first, and all the basics. Quote
0 eddy8men Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 i bought 4 of these geny's from withams thinking they were 240v, the rotten beggars had put the item number sticker over the data plate so you couldn't see the specs. caveat emptor eddy ps. non of mine work either Quote
0 steveo578 Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 do you mean not working electrically not working mechanically? Quote
0 eddy8men Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 mechanically but to be fair i haven't spent much time trying to get them sorted, i'll wait til i get my workshop up and running then have a go at them. eddy Quote
0 airportable Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 Dont know anything about Kohler engines. I know some engines dont like much choke, very easy to flood. I usually pull starter twice, then if does not start, knock choke off. Just a thought. Like posts say, check very basics first. Quote
