Johnh
Hello Folks, Just a quick introduction My Name is John, I am currently working on Aviation type stuff at Aeroventure Doncaster..However a few weeks ago we had a Military Jeep and Cheerful meet at the museum, met some fantastic Guys with their Military V's including GMC CCKWs the list goes on.. Iwork with a guy called Phil Jarvis, he used to be a member of the local MVT any road up a friend of mine was caught drooling over a Reo Multi-fuel Whistler M35 so the die is cast and our Truck of choice... all we need to do now is Get One ! so brace brace brace questions abound ! thankyou in anticipation ! robin craig
Why you people over there have a love for those REOs or whistlers defeats me. Great big hunk of &^%$#@. You will have a better ride and easier support out of a Bedford or a Daf. My 2 cents worth R
Johnh
Thanks for the warm welcome Guys ! ( I am not really a forum type person, mainly because I am a computer technophobe and just get by !!) am a member on a 4x4 specialist site as have an import 4x4 however not as friendly ! Reason for the Reo ? as some of you have visited our museum will know we don't have much WW11 stuff ,lots of memorabilia etc however we do have Jets and lots of Helos, Military vehicles on the increase inc the BARV,and a few Landy variants. I would love to have a GMC CCKW or Dodge Weapons Carrier however the REO would be used to transport display stuff to shows we attend each year ie Waddington Airshow, we are heavily reliant on a small band of volunteers who tow trailer loads of stuff each year so wanted to add to the inventory if that makes sense ? anyway thanks again ! John Welcome John but a word of caution. If your vehicle of choice is pre 1960, it is exempt from plating and testing if it is used unladen. A post 1960 vehicle will require testing and an appropriate licence to drive it.
Johnh
Well a member for less than 24 hours and learned an extremely valuable lesson already ! many thanks for your guidance in plating etc, I guess a few 'dreamers' such as myself come along and you have to get them on the straight and narrow ? Well I have my pass signed to go to the 4x4 show at Newark in December Hope to meet some of you Guys there ? and maybe get some help in the future with aquiring either a Reo or even a GMC ? although would be much more comfortable buying from a forum member at least you know the item has been looked after
