ArtistsRifles
The Caravan Club has started releasing it's archived photos and this set is dated 1947. An English couple got the ferry to France and attended an International Campers meet in the Netherlands. I thought it might be of interest here as it shows Europe as it was 2 years after the war ended - and also because on Page 20 there are photos of a V3 (yep - thats right - V3) site in the Pas de Calais area,...... http://www.flickr.com/photos/50163527@N04/sets/72157625186790821/with/5145628319/

Great War truck
Thats interesting. The V3 site is open to the public and is quite interesting. A little strange to think of all the human remains still in the lower levels as you walk around.
steveo578
ArtistsRifles and also because on Page 20 there are photos of a V3 (yep - thats right - V3) site in the Pas de Calais area,...... Hi Neil The correct name was 15cm Hochdruckpumpe (Adolf always liked messing with the names of weapons) it was a multi-chamber fixed elevation "super-gun" not dissimilar in concept to Saddams project. The Pas De Calais HDP had about 50 barrels on site hence the predicted high rate of fire. it took 50 ton of demolition charges for the allies to destroy the site. I've mentioned it use in the Battle of The Bulge elsewhere on the forum. Steve
ArtistsRifles
Cheers Steve - I'd only ever heard it referred to as the V3 before. We learn new things every day here on HMVF! :-):-)
