Brian Damaged
Hi, my name's Brian, I'm 45, an HGV driver and from the West Midlands of the UK. I came across this place almost by accident, I'm a member of the Retro-Rides forum which concerns itself mainly with modified classic cars, but one of our members spotted and photographed the awesome Scammell Explorer belonging to another of your members 'Croc'. Thread here: http://retrorides.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=78404&page=1 Another RR member found Croc's thread about it on here and posted the link, so I've just spent a very engaging hour leafing through some of the amazing machinery some of you guys own. Rather than lurk I figured I'd join up!! I'm by no means just interested in modified cars, in fact anything but...my father restores MG's and collects Bedford CF's for his sins, and both he and I share a passion for more or less anything old with wheels...especially trucks. I've owned several Land-Rovers in the past, including a '65 S2a Rover 8 ex-radio truck and a '74 S3 APGP. At present I'm in between cars having just sold a drastically-lowered and modified Citroen 2CV (I kid you not...). I keep promising myself that I'll stop buying silly impractical vehicles, but......well when it's in your blood....I'm preaching to the converted here, I guess!! As well as being a retired musician I also enjoy photography/writing, having had some of my work published in Classic Car Weekly as well as being an occasional contributor to various internet forums. Anyway that's enough from me for now. I'm off for another look round!! Edited April 5, 2010 by Brian Damaged
Tony B
Collecting CF's? Welcome in you are definitley barmy enough. I know a local who had a CF that started blowing oil. So he took the filler cap off and replaced it with a sock. He then asked me if I knew why the engine was making funny noises. Well if you get a sock wraspped round the cam shaft, it can lead to weird happenings.
Brian Damaged
Thankyou!! It's My ol' man who collects the Bedfords. At first I never really knew why (back in my musician days Transits were the usual weapon of choice), but having driven most of his collection over the years I must admit I've become rather an admirer. Most notable is his '74 CF250 with Holmes 220 Wrecker on the back which is dragged along by a 4.108 Perkins oil-burner, coupled to the stock Bedford four-speeder (with none of yer actual synchromesh left). It will get up to about 55mph if you've a spare 6 miles of flat tarmac, but I absolutely LOVE driving it. Here it is pictued below, looking a bit sorry for itself about three years ago. Since then the cab's had yet another mini-makeover, but having just retired and finding himself with a load of extra time on his hands he's just liberated an absolutely low-mile MINT '78 cab/chassis from dry storage which he's probably going to rebuild it onto. Anyway, what a fantastic forum. You guys can be righteously proud!!

abn deuce
Welcome Brian , now that your hopelessly infected with the green diease there nothing to be done about it but to start down the slippery slope of looking at photo's then picking up the hobby magazines at the corner news stand just to give em a peek you say , then on to a possible scale model kit to explore the beauty of a perticular vehicle and from there is a very short road to the Old 1:1 scale . Lots of different HMV's here enjoy your exploring .
