Steve Greenberg Posted September 5, 2009 Share Posted September 5, 2009 Hello, The 41st Inf. Div. had thier annual reunion 27-30 August in Vancouver, Washington. Just across the Columbia Rver from where the LCI-713 is moored. Friday 28 August I took 90 WWII 41st Inf. Div. Veterans & family members across the Columbia River to tour the LCI-713. A couple of these Veterans served on board the LCI-713 during WWII! (The LCI-713 is being restored by a bunch of local volunteers.) I made 14 trips across the river! On the 11th trip my rudder cable broke!!!! :nono:One of the crew with me had to hand operate the tiller to steer the DUKW. I showed him what to do and we made 3 more trips across the river to get all the Veterans back before the sun set! The Vets had a great time. 2 of them had been on a DUKW before. 1 guy was last on a DUKW in 1942 and the other 1944! Steve Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
