  1. Thank you very much for posting this wonderful photograph. A Militant tipper is top of my list of desirable lorries and the tipper is one of the rarest Militant Mk 1 variants in preservation. The 6 X 4 in the 'photo was about 20 years old when this picture was taken. I wonder if it survived.
  2. Impressive craftsmanship. Keep posting. I found one of these, complete, original and still with the ignition key in the ignition in a barn some years ago. A sweet looking motor.
  3. Wasn't that meant to happen ? .........I'd assumed CW had activated one of his smokescreen generators.
  4. Very nice Andy. I half expected Jack Hawkins or John Mills to suddenly appear. Top Stuff !
  5. Wanting to do something before one dies is pretty persuasive in itself. What vehicle will you be acquiring ?
  6. I've come over all funny and have had to go and have a lay down.
  7. Hey Ewok, I keep reminding everyone on here that I can remember that, back in the 1960's, Pride and Clark in Brixton, London were selling these wonderful WM20's brand new, in wooden crates, for £25. Yes, I'm that old. Welcome to the forum. It would be nice to see some pix of your BSA sometime. Cheers.
  8. Check out Neils v's Pioneer and other fabulous vehicles on this link. http://www.hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/album.php?albumid=92&pictureid=862
  9. Try adjusting/disconnecting the clutch stop off it's drum and see whether it makes much difference. When 'Professor' Johnny Squirrell, a highly experienced ex heavy haulage driver, drove my Scammell he never bothered with the clutch at all once the lorry was rolling. He just did it all by ear and by judging the engine/road speed. I never heard him crunch any gear while using what I called the 'Squirrell' method. As regards anyone mastering a crash gearbox, my time spent running a HGV school in London many years ago (Bedford TK's !) is that all advice and demonstration wasted. We have to get in the driving seat and find out by our mistakes.
  10. Ted, you rotter ! Fancy not putting these wonderful photographs on the forum before now. Seriously, thank you for sharing them. It makes me wonder what other treasures you have hidden away. That Commer certainly doesn't look compliant with the latest Euroweasle thinking on HGV rear view mirrors. Ted, can you see enough of the wing section on the Commer's trailer to make a guess at what type of aircraft it might be ? Thanks.
  11. Will, if you get time, would you please include a close up 'photo of the type of headlights fitted to your lorry ? Thanks.
  12. And olive green canvas paint ? Thanks.
  13. You may wish to get in touch with forum member Ted Angus who is very knowledgeable about RAF vehicles.
  14. This person sounds like a typical military vehicle enthusiast.
  15. I know just what you are saying. I feel the same way about what I've got parked outside my door. You've got some very fine vehicles there and I look forward to seeing, and hearing, more about them. Those are mean chains on the wheels ! I needed some like that a few weeks ago when this 'photo was taken.
  16. I was going to say I came across them in a yard just outside Shepton Mallet while I was out walking the dog. :cool2:
  17. Would anyone care to have a go at identifying these monsters ? I've no idea what they are and the location was only given as "Somewhere in Russia". A B C D E
  18. Plenty of power available with one of these very compact engines without causing undue stress and strain in an elderly gearbox/transmission.
  19. I just have this one that I've owned for around 10 years. It maybe heading for eBay, along with another WD generator, to help pay for the new lorry den I'm hoping to build later this year. If I do decide to sell it I'll let you know. Thank you for you comment.
