  1. What a lovely blog ! Your Scammell pushing the snow 'photo now my screen saver, thanks.
  2. As well as being our foremost source of information in regard to how illegal aliens are undermining our once great nation, the "Daily Mail" newspaper is now performing another valuable service by giving away "free" war movie DVD's. For the next couple of weeks, if you buy a copy of the paper and redeem the coupon within at Tesco, or WH Smith, you get a "free" DVD. There appears to be about a dozen DVD's in the collection, all worth having, including "I Was Monty's Double", "In Which We Serve" and "Reach For The Sky" in which, if I remember correctly, there is an excellent shot of a Crossley Q4 delivering aircraft parts loaded onto it's Tasker "Queen Mary" trailer. One last thing, the DVD's are region 2.
  3. Tony B. I'm up on the Mendip hills with quite a few historic military sites in the area. Within walking distance is the WW11 bombing decoy site of Blackdown where a full size replica of the blacked out city of Bristol was built. Some sort of electronics was used to lure bombers into dropping their load on open moorland rather than Bristol's aircraft factories. There are also countless WW11 concrete tank traps and pill boxes in the area. Just across the fields is the site of a 8 acre WW11 US Army camp where soldiers were billeted during the build up to D Day. Only the foundations of the buildings survive. Next to that is Maesbury Castle, an Iron Age Fort.
  4. My name is Tom, I'm based in Somerset and have had a life long passion for army vehicles. I'm particularly interested in 1950's British vehicles especially Scammell and AEC. I own a series 2A L.R. which can be seen on YouTube by entering "Land Rover Series 2A Ambulance". I'm looking forward to learning more about all types of military vehicles on your wonderful forum.
  5. Forgive me if this has already been dealt with but in the 'photo captioned "Blenheim bomber engine cowling", just to the right of the cowling, the vehicle facing the camera appears to be a Karrier K6.
