  1. Yep, what Andy said. You only need the 2 or 3 way boxes if you want to power the radios too (typically one for the harness and one each for the radios). The distribution box does have the advantage of having fuses in it, though. Cheers, Terry
  2. Didn't the Matilda driveline make use of standard truck/bus components though? Cheers, Terry
  3. Hi Phil, The National Military Vehicle Museum in Edinburgh Parks is always after stuff, possibly even Matilda wheels Drop in to one of our meetings (there is one tonight!) or email us with details of what you're trying to get rid of. Thanks, Terry
  4. No problem mate, it took me a while to find it too Another trick I use is when topping up the gearbox and transfer cases, rather than removing the filling plugs and pouring in there, I just stick a long flex funnel in through the dipstick holes. It lessens the risk of dropping the plugs (the chain is missing off my gearbox one (hence the reason I removed the floor plate...)), and it also allows the funnel to go around the seat base for the gearbox. Cheers, Terry
  5. Here is a picture of the transfer case of my Mk 5, the last time I had to have the floor up, with the dipstick circled in red. The front of the vehicle is towards the top of the picture (you can see the back of the handbrake assembly and the lower seat mounts), and the back is towards the bottom (you can make out the fuel tank, and the edge of the hole into which the commander's seat drops onto the spigot). Normally, you would only open up the oblong access panel, in which case the dipstick is at the lower right of it and may be a bit hard to see (it's an oblong for a reason though). You need to unscrew it with a wrench. Cheers, Terry
  6. Oh, what are you greasing on the Saracen? The suspension should be filled with OEP 220, not grease. Cheers, Terry
  7. Also, your top is on backwards. It will be more stable if the foot plate and pump handle are on the same side.
  8. They're actually a dual action pump. Make sure that you give the pump mechanism a good clean, particularly if it has previously been used with grease, and bleed any air out through the bleed valve. It should then pump on both the up and down strokes. Cheers, Terry
  9. Take the spark plug out and fill the bore with diesel. Let it soak for a few days and it should free up. Drain and refill the fluids and you should be in action. Cheers, Terry
  10. The one pictured is fitted with a 20 round mag - you'll note that it's about level with the bottom of the pistol grip. The 30s are loooong - certainly much more so than an AR15 mag, as the 7.62x51 has a considerably larger diameter. Cheers, Terry
  11. The problem with the 30 round BREN mags being fitted to the SLR is that the BREN is a top feed and therefore the magazine springs were a little on the weak side to feed reliably without the gravity assistance. Cheers, Terry
  12. I found a very large oil drain pan (~15 L) at my local parts store that has a spout on it, apparently for pouring out the old oil when you're done... I bought 2, and set one up on a small stand to overflow into the other and it works quite well with the Saracen. Cheers, Terry
  13. You can use the 10W30. It's what I run in my Saracen.
  14. Another option, of course, is to get a quote to have a professional blast it for you. You'll probably find that it costs about the same as buying the tools and consumables yourself, with a whole lot less hassle and mess. Cheers, Terry
  15. I could be wrong, but to the best of my knowledge, all of the Mk 5 and 6 Saracens were rebuilds of earlier vehicles. During the upgrade process they were stripped to a bare hull, modified and then completely refitted/refurbished. There are many, many more differences between the early and late marks other than the extra armour. Cheers, Terry
  16. Replacing a radiator is fairly easy but expensive; just flush out the one that you have and sink the extra cost in only if you have to down the line. Cheers, Terry
  17. Being a Mk 6, I can almost guarantee that it is fitted for an L37 GPMG. The easiest way to tell us to look at the shape of the hole for the barrel. If it's round, it's for a Browning; if oval shaped, it's for the GPMG (to allow for the gas tube as well as the barrel). Cheers, Terry
  18. No, but I could; provided that I can still find the stuff. The area that it was being stored in has been cleaned up. So hopefully it will be more accessible now. Cheers, Terry
  19. Rusty box has a chassis, there is another on top of it too. The green chassis on the ground has been sold.
  20. In that case, you need to be specific about what part(s) you're interested in. Maybe repost the photos after circling them or something. They all look like boxes of rust to me
