  1. This 4 day show gets better and better each year, the weather was near perfect with rain only coming down all day Saturday, however this did not stop the public coming through the gates. I don’t know how many vehicles attended this year but there were a few I have never seen before including some first world war ones. I did count at least 6 WW2 era Halftracks running around. As pictured earlier we had a Vietnam era helo fly in on the Friday for a visit which was great to see. As usual the battle re-enactments where very good with lots of loud bags and explosions with the Germans winning in the mornings and the Allied forces in the afternoons along with UXB demonstrations throughout the day. Bargains were to be had at the many trade stands which included non military items was well. All in all a great day out for the family with military and non military things to see and do.
  2. If you are in the area and want to bring your WW2 era vehicle to the museum tomorrow you would be most welcome. There is a small grassed area directly outside the museum where you can park up. Thanks Paul
  3. Stupid question but do we bring/use our own plates and cutlery? Paul
  4. Rosie, Is there any chance you could ask Richard what route he plans to take as I cant leave that early but I will most likely be able to catch him up on route in the Jeep. Cheers Paul
  5. Right ho Rosie, will have to have a word with the missus and ill let you know in good time and by the way a very well done for the show it was a credit to you roll on 2011! Paul
  6. I am planning on heading down Friday morning from Portsmouth in the Jeep, most likely after the morning rush so if anyone from my area wants to meet up for a convoy please give me a shout. Anyway just a couple of questions...... 1. Is there going to be some sort of "check in" process when I arrive? is my name on the list? 2. Will I be advised on where to pitch my tent? 3. Are vouchers to be issued for the breakfast or is it assumed everyone in the field has payed or has taken out a subscription to Pathfinder magazine of which I am the latter. 4. There was mention of a local petrol station doing a discount on fuel, is this the case? Regards Paul
  7. All it was is that your picture looked familiar and I think you stopped by the tent and had a chat, we were at the back of the prefab and you may have asked about my tent heater....ill get me coat!

  12. Here are some pictures of the "village at war" event held at the rural museum in Tilford, Farnham. This event has been running for a few years now and seems to get bigger and better every year. Weather was damp on the Saturday but a bit better on the Sunday which gave me a chance to dry the canvas out. Several demonstrations took part during the day with an air raid which was played over an excellent sound system which made it actually feel like there were planes overhead and cumulating in a downed German pilot being chased through the village. A pre D-Day training exercise being carried out by the Screaming Eagles and 514th Red ball living history groups, which was supported by large amounts of gas firing .30 and .50cal MG’s and 60mm and 80mm Mortars firing off with what I believe were bird scarer’s being dropped down the barrels. All this along with Home front demonstrations/tea dances etc. A fantastic setting and well worth a visit if you are in the area.
