  1. Yes, strange that, not very good if you need a quick drink whilst on the move. Pullover, thats next on my list of wants along with the Great coat. Cheers Paul
  2. Another top tip, its all in the detail. Cheers
  3. V interesting, ill have a look at that, Thanks
  4. I thought I would post some pictures of the kit I have been collecting over the past few months for my new Royal Engineers impression. I will start with the basic kit and uniform. The uniform is repro but most of the rest is original. I hope this will help anyone who is just starting out. I will also post the basic uniform and kit for the US infantry man in due course. I am not an expert on uniforms so please feel free to correct me if I am in error.
  5. Hi, After looking at the bell tents being displayed by British living history groups at Beltring I have decided to purchase one for my display which cost me £125 as it has a minor flaw, £299 for a mint one, so I thought that was a very good price. https://www.canvastentshop.co.uk/canvas-tents/bell-tents/bushcraft-4m-bell-tent-used.htm Did the original British Army ones have any W D markings on them and if so what were they and where stamped? Where tent stove/heaters used inside the bell tent? if so what type? I have seen the Frontier tent stoves and they look very good, but I dont want to purchase one if it is not right for the period. I am still looking for a small officers type tent similar to Jacks Pathfinder replicas, which can be in white or Khaki, so if anyone knows of one please let me know. Paul
  6. More vehicles and thats enough for tonight, ill do some more tomorrow night....
  7. It was muddy this morning when I arrived but dried out not too bad during the day, started to rain when I left at 1800. Here are some "living history" pictures.
  8. Yes but very isolated, so bring your snow shoes just incase!
  9. Whilst I was there weather and mud was fine. Started to drizzle late afternoon I think but nothing much. As a pedestrian the mud was in patches but ok under foot. Paul
  10. Fantastic!, I was there when it was under the command of Cincnavhome as a young naval sprog Thanks for posting. Paul
  11. Mark, Looking much better with the back drop. Perhaps a change of colour backdrop as camo on camo is a bit had to see and does not emphasise the jackets, also will you be having a little label on each for MoPs identification i.e. Jacket 1950-70 issue. 100 % improvement. Regards Paul Ps leave out the washing line it does not go with the display.
  12. Rob, Left some feedback on your blog, however would it be possible for me to book an early morning shake and a nice cuppa to be brought to my tent in the mornings by a member of the SOE show committee? Regards Paul
  13. I painted mine (for US display) with "mix 1" available from MV parts suppliers i.e. Dallas/universal etc. I have been told that when the can was first filled they had no yellow marking on, it was only when they were refilled they had the yellow markings applied. But as you know there where shed loads of different shades of OD from different manufactures throughout the war years. Hope this helps Paul
  14. Good find, thanks for posting, very sad sight.Paul

  19. Can I just do a link over to some pic's what I took... http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?22620-Overlord-2011-venue-change/page5 Thanks paul
  20. This was the best Overlord that I have been to so far; it reminded me of a smaller Beltring. There was certainly a good variety of vehicles and some nice living history displays. A fantastic range of stall holders and some very good bargains to be had, Soldier of Fortune was a very welcome visitor. I saw the organisers constantly running around talking to all traders/living historians to ensure everyone was happy with the arrangements. To echo Barry, a very well done to all and thank you for making it happen  . Paul
