  1. Hi, Can you please tell me if anyone produces the correct colour blue paint for the "USA" and the Numerals on the bonnet of a Jeep please. Thank you in advance Paul
  2. HMS Ark Royal comes home to Portsmouth 03-12-2010 0945......after 25 years service she appeared out of the frosty morning mist then disappeared into it once again:cry: Sorry but cant seem to get the pictures in the proper order.
  3. Hi, Looking at travelling up from Portsmouth for your event, do you have an idea on the number of traders attending ie about the same as Malvern or Stoneleigh? Thanks in advance. Paul
  4. Yes, If you want to work for the Ministry of Defence! Paul
  5. Thanks mate, took it from my office window. Good to see you Sunday. Regards Paul
  6. HMS Ark Royal leaves Portsmouth for the final time under the White Ensign, she is due to return early December to pay off.
  7. Looks post war to me, others issued this type as well as already mentioned Observer Corps, RNXS and Prisoners. the one pictured looks RAF coloured however the RNXS and Prisons were much darker. Paul
  8. Andy, Yes I also did a quick in take of breath, that is just what I thought but was not 100% sure so did not post, but thank you for posting. John please make sure you have the correct coverage. Paul
  9. If your looking at paying £80 for a blouse you might as well buy repro from this country, just in case the greece one dosent fit...try http://www.khakidevil.co.uk/ I have heard good news, but again around the £180 mark for a full set. My strong advice is, if you can get yourself along to the next Malvern fair, you can do the deals, there is also a Belguim dealer Quartermaster BE who aslo sells the 37 Pat BD's
  10. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/National-Registration-Identity-Card-1945-FREE-FAST-POST-/400157439195?pt=UK_Collectables_Paper_RL&hash=item5d2b3df4db 13 hrs to go but plenty on there, do an advanced search and and click "completed" check for price gained some unsold and the most expensive originals about £4 Good luck Paul
  11. Dont forget If you are purchasing from abroad you might get stung by customs and that could put a few more pounds on your purchase. Paul
  12. I have a repro "Nationl Registration card for under sixteens year", I got this from a military museum (HMS Belfast I think) for about 50p most museums sell these along with repro clothing and rationing books nowdays, phone up Bovvy or the D-Day museum Southsea. I recently purchased a 37 pat BD (for the larger man) and the going rate I found was £180 so not cheap. Ill have a look at my documents scans and see what I have, ill let you know. Again check out the sales section on the reenactors site. Paul
  13. I have been driving round in my Jeep for the past 7 years to and from shows with either a .30 cal or .50 cal on the back, always, I hasten to add covered up, only uncovering at the event or in organised convoys etc. I keep copies with "copy" written on of all the deact certs in my glove compartment. I have never had a problem with the police. I do believe that if your weapon has proof marks you do not have to hold the deact cert as the weapon can be traced back via the marks, if you want a replacement cert, again I believe it is about £35?? however I feel it is good practice to always buy a weapon with a cert. The same goes with all my deact weapons I use for display including whichever one I display in the windscreen gunrack, again in a sleeve when travelling to and from events. I also belong to AFRA http://www.afra.org.uk/ for my PLI which is £15 per year. If you want to buy a denix get yourself along to Malvern http://www.militaryconvention.co.uk/default.htm or Stoneleigh http://www.militariashows.com/ as they sell them there, the normal trader is "stand up Hook up" AKA Dennis Smith http://standuphookup1941.com/ As mentioned above http://www.wwiireenacting.co.uk/ is a good source for Denix and they are often on there for sale at cheapish prices along with Denix Thompsons etc. One last word, it is nice looking to have a weapon on the back but the mount does take up some space and makes it cramped in the back for any passengers. Just my 2 pence worth. Paul
  14. If your down south try Sabre sales in Southsea the will have most if not all clothing you require at a good price, ask for Dicky. http://www.sabresales.co.uk/index.html For repro paperwork, there are several dealers on the web just do a google search but you could try these packs normally sell at about a fiver each. http://www.mempackcompany.com/ Also register at http://www.wwiireenacting.co.uk/ they are a wealth of Knowledge Good hunting Paul
  15. A qoute taken from the MVT magazine..... "It has also been suggested that National show status should move round the country and awarded to different qualifying events each year which would enable a higher proportion of the membership to attend such shows over the year" Paul

  23. Hi, Would anyone out there be able to point me in the right direction of any pictures/info of WW2 Jeeps marked up for Royal Engineers, I’m guessing they were not marked up as RE and most likely marked as the parent unit? Secondly, the dog tags issued to British servicemen during the war, would the ATS have been issued with the same/different or nothing at all? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you Paul
