  1. I am looking for information with regards erecting cammo netting in WW2. I know we have those mushroom things on poles these days, but what was used back then to hold the netting up, or did they use mushrooms? Thanks Paul
  2. Fantastic, what a nice change to see British reenactment in force. Thank you for posting. Paul
  3. As Goran said, small wall best bet for US set up. Having a buying knowledge, I think you would be lucky to find one for less than £500 these days. The only thing I will say it can be put up by one person but two would be better. If still interested stick an advert up on http://www.wwiireenacting.co.uk as they do crop up on there.
  4. What are you marked up as Americano or British?
  5. They look like ex Fearless or Intrepid boats, nice
  6. Try these.... http://premierbarriers.co.uk/catalog/metal-fencing-pins-pack-p-94.html
  7. Drop a line to Rob on this site as this is the major military vehicle club in the area. http://www.solentoverlord.co.uk/contact.htm
  8. # Without reading the whole thread, you after the WW2 stuff? If so....... http://www.joeri.net/radiofiles/ And do a search or ask on G503 site as there were 3 clips available, one about mortar rounds being fired, spotting a tank and firing on it and one other I cant think of.
  9. I cant see them on my normal pc, however I can see them on my lap top so could it be a setting issue???? Paul
  10. Ill be another one from Hants area going up. Paul
  11. Hi, Would that be a Queens crown? Regards Paul
  12. Just a couple of questions..... 1. So is the discount available for brit kit 2. How do you go about getting the discount when ordering, is there a code to be input on SOF website when ordering? And for those representing British I would suggest for a bog standard look, standfast Tankies: Battle dress blouse P37 BE603 or P40 BE759 Battle dress trousers P37 BE602 or P40 BE760 OR Denim blouse BE768 Denim trousers BE769 Shirt BE907 Gaiters BE905 Boots BEO64 OR BC599 FS cap BE658 OR GS Beret KC005 OR Tin helmet BE729 To whatever unit you would wish to represent inkeeping with timeframe. Re ATS, sorry to say there is not much out there and would suggest you refer to the wwii reenactors website for further information or contact Sabre sales http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?25626-British-army-uniform-WW2
  13. Really need to see if there is a little stamped mark in the crown or are there any marking underneath the remaining webbing? However a "no mark" could indicate a Hawley according to my book*. Again according to the book* there were 10 manufactures over the wartime period but the other nine should have been stamped in the crown ie HR, SC, capac, firestone, S, W, inland, IMP and MSA. *Steel Pots by Chris Arnold
  14. I would say looking at the pictures £20 - £40 each max as they need some work and I am not really sure from looking at the pictures they are both American issue, I would hazard a guess the heat stamped one is but the other could be European US style ie Belgium. If they were fixed bail that would be a different story with regards "worth". Best bet is for Enigma to comment as he has a more indepth knowledge on US pots. Sorry not much help Paul
  15. Do they have swivel or fixed bails? Do they have the heat stamp marked on the inside of the pot, normally at the front area? Paul
  16. I did read somewhere the site was having problems with viruses etc, I think it was in a letter when I had my new membership card come through....although I could be wrong Paul
  17. Part two and spotted an aquaintace of mine from the D-Day museum Mr Frank Rosier. Here is a picture of us and a couple of other buddies on the day we were all presented to Her Majesty back in 2009 at the museum.
  18. I watched the first ep yesterday and to my surprise I saw an old face, Sgt Bill Ryan. I met him at Tilford "Village at War" back in 2006. He kept us all intrigued with his wartime stories, what a character he was. He made a bee line for me as my jeep was marked up in the 16 IR 1 ID which was his old unit. He also went on to say that he was the nephew of Cornelius Ryan the author of the longest day.
  19. Its interesting to listen too all the stations you can pick up, I had radio europe and a christian channel along with a pirate radio station and if I remeber correctly I used to get an aircraft repeating station and what sounded like morse code transmissions? but watch out you dont drain your battery like what I did listening to it for hours. Paul
  20. Hi, Look at the videos on youtube under bc-1306, they have some good old Signal Corps ones. http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=bc-1306&aq=f Check out Roy as well as Armyradio. I got my set up through him and it worked a treat. http://milradio.com/ You will also need a PE-237 (hard to find) or the DY-88 (easier to find) if you aint already got one to make it work. You should also have a square junction box alongside the passenger seat for the power pack to wire into. If you are doing a WW2 US jeep set up the DY-88 normally comes with foreign markings on which you will have to gently rub off and replace the lettering with a dry stencil letter set. Please dont forget that if you do not have a license you cannot use it to transmit you can only listen in. I do believe this jeep set up was only use late war as the power packs were late in delivery so not often seen. Irecently removed this set in my jeep but I’ll see if I have any pictures of my set up. Hope this help? Ps, is your jeep radio supressed? Paul
  21. FYI Guys.........."THIEVES who stole two items from the D-Day Museum – including a medal awarded for bravery – have been returned. It was first noticed that the George Medal and souvenir badge from the 1936 Berlin Olympics were missing from the museum in Clarence Explanade, Southsea, on October 3.But on Wednesday night both items were posted through the door of city council leader Gerald Vernon-Jackson’s home.He said: ‘I’m really pleased that we’ve got them back. It’s great that either someone decided they’d done the wrong thing, and wanted to put the situation right, or that somebody found them and decided to do the right thing.’Both items were on loan to the museum from separate lenders and their owners have been informed of their return"............. Regards Paul
