  1. Given what Vince has said it would be a bad mistake to remove it, it is different, unique and useful. Loads of pictures of field/workshop modifications carried out in service have been posted on here in various threads, and the chances of this being one of them seem quite high to me. Just because no documentary evidence has turned up yet, does not mean there is none. It would be a pity to remove it only to then discover proof that it was actually much more interesting than even those posting to this thread have found it. As the owner of an MV that doesn't conform to the usual spec, your conversations at shows and such will be much more interesting, like when the chap who drove or built it turns up one day!
  2. Hi Wayne, I see you have an Austin 18 York saloon in your fleet, I used to have one of those as a teenager (£15 one owner) it had a glass screen behind the front seats and four seats in the back, with a phone to speak to the driver, does yours have that? Never seen one since. My dad pushed it in a hole and buried it with a JCB after I left home as he wanted the shed room!
  3. Me too, I would never even bother to ask, it puts the potential buyer at a disadvantage right from the start, so they've lost my interest completely.
  4. Just in case you're still snowed in and you can't get to your satellite dish to clear the snow off it, try this. Speakers on. http://crass.on.ru/flash/aaa-1.html
  5. bellows part no.....MT1/SV/AP5506 valve complete no...MT1/SV/APSA 665A/1
  6. I have the earlier parts book do you want the page scanned and posted?
  7. This guy sensibly tries to stop it with his foot..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ro_iuJHv9hI
  8. It was a bit strange at first with picture rich threads but seems OK for me now using Vista/Firefox
  9. Welcome Tim, your enhanced 2010 show season starts now, enjoy.
  10. Mike I think this is because you may have a slow connection (because of the weather or, the whole country is sitting at home with nothing to do but look at the web) and you are not waiting for the whole page to load, when you refresh it catches up. try reducing the amount of posts shown on each page in 'Forum settings'.
  11. Hi Jon, nothing wrong with an interest in wreckers, quite a few of us are afflicted..
  12. Welcome in Rob, I've always rather lusted after a Humber Heavy Utility, they just look so tough, it must be those cycle front mudguards that do it.
  13. My BSA one was a sealed recon unit when I got it, the exhaust valve stuck open after a while, I took the head off and the gasket was asbestos type paper, I cut one out of a cereal box and it works OK, I have since bought a square of paper gasket material of the non asbestos type to make another more durable one.
  14. Jack, I've been chucking some of my spare posts on the huge inglenook fire, can you confirm the rumour that our thousand plus posts are upgraded to oak instead of the old Tanalized type, just thinking off the environment..
  15. Does this mean I will have to change my avatar?...:shake:
  16. Thanks for all your input chaps, I've been looking into fitting the air dryer, can't see how it could fit into my system. Don't think the methanol bottle will work either as the compressor draws air from the pressure side of the L10s turbo. Don't like the idea of spraying Methanol direct into the system. Don't feel happy with the effectiveness of the tank draining. So that's me a fair weather driver, as they keep saying lately if your journey isn't really necessary stay at home..roll on springtime. PS. my Explorer was a fitted with snow plough on Air Flight Ranges, so I would expect it to have had it's share of Methanol, all valves and relays have been apart and found to be OK.
  17. Hi Wilhelm, yep always nice to see build up pix..
  18. I lost count as well gave up at 114, found a few more since, reckon in excess of 120.
  19. Well done getting it back on so quickly, so pleased it aint eye blistering blue this time! I guess getting it all cosy as we like it will take time, don't stay up too late Joris we can wait!
  20. Thanks for those Willy, some nice work done there.
  21. If I fitted them I'd have to start going to the gym, how lazy can you get? :-D
