  1. Saw nothing myself but friends who saw it arrive, (apparently un-announced) told me, he landed in Americas field area and was going to be trailered into position, he then took off again and landed in the display. They where amazed at his flying skills as it was all so close around him.

  3. Do you mean the one of four blokes wizzing about on the river in a sand colored amphibious MV? Working on that now..
  4. Great to meet you at Beltring Mark. Yes folks, I have seen it and really is very very good indeed..
  5. Richard returned to his QL to find this on his windscreen.. Strangely, and almost unbelievably it turned out that no such class exists, and no one knows of the judge who signed it, can anyone throw any light on this? Poor Richard is so confused and saddened that someone could play such a cruel trick on him, as you can see...he is a very glum man, hardly able to face the camera! If you saw or know anything about this, please let us know as this sort of prank could bring about chaos and misery to the entire MV movement if the culprit is not found and severely punished..
  6. Brilliant, you are now officialy a legend......in my book anyway..
  7. 117 English girls with US stocking could pull 234 blokes with u/s fanbelts....
  8. I can see how that would get you going Mark, but is it only me or are there not at least 4 strikes to the top lh blade and two to the rh one in that picture?
  9. Looks like its a one off specially for you Rog, although most of the 36 may well be technophobes, Try another browser like Google Chrome, see if it still does it, if not it's IE playing up, there's nothing like an A-B swap test.
  10. Knock them tent pegs well in chaps, tighten them guy ropes, gale warnings for tonight and tomorrow!
  11. Great that you sold them so quickly, it must pay to be sensible, must try it sometime :-D Will let you know if I hear of a good'n for sale, diesel one needed I presume?
  12. Handraulic actualy Robert, it was to lift the huge pointy snowplough that was fitted for clearing runways when Forceful was in service with the Royal Aircrat Establisment.....damn it...sorry, I shouldn't have told you that secret stuff, just watch out for men in trench coats with turned up collars hanging around your gaff!
  13.:rofl: All of the above Nick, working on persuading my daughter to bake us one of her chocolate, bannana and rum cakes, but she's a busy girl so can't push it too much!
  14. Steve, thanks for the background info, that link was the one sent to me by my mate as we have just had a great few days up there on the Settle Carlisle railway, not meant as an example really... :-) As you say very useful if for instance you are trying to understand pillbox positions ect.
  15. An ex REME chap told me they had an extra seat fitted it their Explorers, so I fitted one like he said for Beltring, the more the merrier..:-D
  16. Should have said that happend a few years ago before the extra fields where opened up, I suppose it may just have been the one marshal's view though.
  17. Just been sent a link to this, it lets you compare 1930s and 1940s maps side by side with modern road maps, other options are available in the drop down menues top right hand of screen, rather good I thought: http://wtp2.appspot.com/wheresthepath.htm?lat=54.46040189933922&lon=-2.36143413408849&gz=13&oz=7&gt=6
  18. Hmm..strangley I never bothered to think about that before, the coupling springs and brackets, the Neate brake assy, the heater, pipework and extra water, the inner cab skin and insulation, extra air tank and pipework, a few less valves in the braking system, must be a few other bits.. all adds up, makes em faster though.:-D.
  19. Just out of interest, has any one ever not found a space and had to leave again? I once arrived late Tuesday and was told I coudn't go in unless someone was keeping a place for me, luckily some one was.
  20. This is just what happened to me last year, I had pegged out a large area for five or six vehicles and trailers, my choice of site was not deemed suitable by some of our group who arrived later to peg out, and we all parked else where. I was very politely asked if I still needed the space and it was then given to someone else. Don't be afraid to ask but be polite, it can be like waiting in a pub for a table to eat at sometimes, but just because there is someone sitting at a table with spare seats, it doesn't mean that right words won't allow you to share, and you can even meet new friends that way.
  21. Don't know if it is the same thing, but I remember it like this.. I had just started working as a plant fitter in 1970, I had been driving AEC 760 dump trucks for some while before that, all of the other fitters on the firm with car licences where granted HGV licences under grandfather rights around that time, so they could do road tests, use the low lowader etc.. I did not get one as being the new boy and not having driven HGVs for that firm for six months, I was not eligable and they would not do the relevant paper work for me. In my next job I was still able to drive their RL Bedford recovery on my car licence though, but I suppose that was not an HGV.
