  1. Here are some more from my collection (not for reproduction); alas, I don't know the location of any of these views. The YMCA kitchen is from Motor Traction 24 March 1915.
  2. Here's a typical example: http://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/205315900 You can identify them by the pointed brass radiator and the horizontal handle on the bonnet sides.
  3. Not quite. The rebuild is of B2737 (LH 8186) - a genuine B type chassis that, so I understand, went to the War Department. More photos here:
  4. Hi Barry, yes this clip has been touched on before; here: http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?883-Morris-Light-Reconnaissance-Car/page3
  5. Yes, this looks like a Daimler. The row of petrol cans marked up is a bit unusual and nice to see.
  6. Mmmm. Yes, fair point Tim.
  7. No! With "LOAD NOT TO EXCEED 3 TONS" on the lorries, it's clearly a Britsh dump. A Peerless up front then a couple of FWDs.
  8. Similar wheels can also be seen on Tilling-Stevens in French service but other than the tapering rear to the chassis not much else fits. I've not found a good match for Berliet either.
  9. It probably is an Austin - I don't belive they were based on the twin-shaft chassis; and the Peerless was chain drive, whereas the one in the photo is (single) shaft draive.
  10. Charlie, I posted some post war pics of British army jeeps here (more for the serial numbers than anything else): http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?24502 Enjoy!
  11. Apologies for the delay in posting this, which helps prove the point: The lorry belongs to the Whitehead Aircraft Co Ltd, Richmond, Surrey.
  12. Yep, 70 years to the day. The book, And the walls came tumbling down, is supposed to be a good read. [video=youtube;VOAPx_VPi-A]
  13. Ron, you asked this before - lol! http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?7797-Morris-Commercial-gallery/page21 Richard has pointed you in the right direction. It's good to know the Morris has arrived here, presumably with the other items from the US. The auction said there wasn't title, so I hope the buyer didn't have too many difficulties getting the vehicles out of the country.
  14. It may be worth double checking with Meteor Spares to see if they have one in stock: http://www.thersr.co.uk/meteor-spares-ltd
  15. A TRMU being operated by heavy haulier John Silbermann Ltd - from Commercial Motor 18 July, 1958:
  16. This photo is almost certainly of a Commercar. The radiator, with the notches in the header tank, is definately from one and you can just see the famous Commercar curved name plate on the bulkhead. The lattice framework under the chassis is another clue that confirms things. However, there are some oddities - there are bonnet louvres, the rear axle doesn't look chain drive (or at least the chain covers are missing) and I've not seen Y spoked wheels on a Commercar before. Presumably some field mods have been carried out?
  17. Retromobile starts next week. It includes a WW1 diorama: http://en.retromobile.com/ANIMATIONS/1914-2014-Lest-we-forget http://en.retromobile.com/ANIMATIONS/Tank-exhibit-at-Retromobile Photos please from anyone who is attending.
  18. Mmmm. Wheels & Tracks #30 says the C8 GS first appeared in 1944. Good luck though.
  19. If you've been googling "900 x 16" then you're making the classic mistake of how tyres were designated. Google "Petlas 9.00-16" and these pop up, amongst others: http://www.mytyres.co.uk/cgi-bin/rshop.pl?Marke=Petlas&X-Profil=NT%203&X-Name=9.00%20-16%20125A6%2012PR%20TT&dsco=110&details=Ordern&typ=R-193446&ranzahl=4&rsmFahrzeugart=AS&sowigan=GAN&Breite=9.00&Quer=&Felge=16&Speed=A6 http://www.bigtyres.co.uk/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&category_id=553&product_id=20072&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=19
  20. A couple of stens are for auction at Warwick & Warwick's coin and medal sale next month (lots 117 and 118): http://www.warwickandwarwick.com/ They are probably not what folk want, but for those in the market they may have been missed...
  21. What an interesting machine! http://www.prewarcar.com/index.php?option=com_caradvert&view=ad&section_id=1&id=91137&Itemid=432
  22. Sorry folks, I don't have a positive ID just yet! Interesting that it is chain drive... which helps narrow things down.
  23. Here's one person's review:
