  6. the 7.62x39 Soviet was adapted from the 7.92x39 Kurz which was designed for the German Sturmgeschutze of WW2, in fact a lot of the AK47 was taken from this weapon. Baz.
  7. Hello All, I'm collecting info on the 11th Armoured Division. what I'm after is a list of the Numbers displayed on the front/rear of vehs within the Division. I've only been able to find out the main ones ie Armoured Regts and Inf Batts what i'm after are the ones for the support troops such as RMP RA RAMC RASC Armoured Replacement Sqn. I've read a number of books, contacted Bovvy and can't get the support Nos. any help would be appreciated. Baz.

  10. I've got access to INERT, DRILL AND BLANK for ammo and I do believe I'm right. Baz.
  11. Russia uses 2 types of 7.62 rounds. rimless 7.62 x 39 for the AK47 range and the belt fed MGs such as the MKT/PKM etc use a rimmed 7.62 x 54R (R = Rimmed), none of these rounds are compatible with NATO as NATO are classified as 7.62x51mm. Baz.
  12. I can remember painting over the red nuts on the split rims, I can also remember painting the filler caps on the Ferret petrol tanks to signify the fuel type when we started to get diesel engined VHS. The red we used was pillerbox red. Baz.
  13. Alien, the MK5 has a bin on each side of the hull that lies under the turret launchers which contain 1 spare missile, ie 2 per veh. Baz.
  14. CVR(T) had a blackout switch which turned off all the lights, this was initially fitted to turn off all the "white" lights and turn on the IR headlights, if I remember correctly. Baz.

  17. Page 5 & 6 Sorry for the poor condition, the paper the manuals are printed on is very thin and dark coloured and I can't scan very well, any tips to improve are welcome. Baz.

  19. Please correct me if I'm wrong, is this problem the reason that the Red Cross was removed from first aid boxes and replaced with the current one, as being a ex Medic we were told to remove our red crosses from out boxes containing kit. Baz.
  20. Talking about serving soldiers, why wasn't 2Lt Wales taking part in a service with his regiment. Baz.
  21. I was honoured this year, I was asked by rep of my local RBL if I would step in as Standard Bearer this year, obviously seen as a compliment I duly obliged. Baz.
