  1. Basically the towing weight of trailer must not exceed the vehicle, except where the manufacturer declares it is a towing vehicle, ie Landy. Depending on the date of first registration of the towing vehicle, you may loose concessions such as free tax. Towing something like the Fox you may get into CPC country. Seriously check with DVLA. The rules are very complex. Your starting point has to be a vehicle not used for commercial use, she is a 'Lesiure vehicle'
  2. Hi LE, I hope you do go back. The photos on the site may seem poor at time, but bear in mind they were taken at risk of imprisonment or death. About 30 Jersey civillians were taken to concentration camps, at least a dozen never returned. There crimes? Listening to the BBC on the radio and spreading the 'Lies' they heard. If Jersey people like me, known proudly as Crapaud's (Toads) are a bolshie bunch if you try to lean on us, now you know why. :-D
  3. Well done sir! Sod the expense throw the cat another goldfish. Enjoy the toy, don't turn her into a trailer Queen. :shake:
  4. Headcorn in kent do a 'Flying Proms 'Concert, don'yt think I'll make it this year, but I recommend antone to contact them and offer a vehicle to attend. The first year there was Spit and Hurri to Battle of Britian theme and 2 Mustangs to Glenn Miller not to mention the most outstanding display of glider acrobatice, I didn't think a glider could do what the pilot did. Last year had a mass of Tiger Moths . The dtae is Late August I think. http://www.headcornaerodrome.co.uk/
  5. Another Tony? Do you think our parents realised than when given the name Anthony or Antony or Tony or nickname Tony we'd either grow up to be Prime Minister or spend our lives under large lumps of dirty metal? The fortunate ones went down the metal route. Welcome to the mad house.
  6. http://forum.ww2dodge.com/ This is the link to the Dodge forum, should get the specialist help there.
  7. I remeber the Bouchons. When Battle of Britian was being made in, was it 1968? The aircraft staged through Jersey. We all bugged off school to go up the airport to see them. Having been occupied there was a lot of bad feeling have them there even overnight.
  8. Hey Darren the surname is Banner. I have to say the Jersey vehicle I desperatley covert and lay awake at night planning to sneack onto Condor is Ian Cabot's Dodge Command car.I didn't know there was a 101 ambulance on the Island. Whose got that?
  9. Hi Daren,Fortunatley the ambulance is 12 volt, but has a split charger with a second battery to feed the body lights and Esperbacher heater. Another joy. I have gone through the diagram and the troble spot appears to be at the infra red relay and switch. I'm going to take them out of circuit. Tony
  10. Daft thing is the 'Lightweight' is actually heavier than the standard 88, Another Military spec mouse :? For those that have never heard- Definition of an Elephant- Military spec mouse. A Camel= Horse designed by MOD.
  11. Yeah but no traffic jams in a Kraz, no accidents either, anything less than a battle tank you'd just squish  I'd love to park one up in the city. Go on you ******* clamp or tow that!
  12. Please, pretty please with the WHOLE friut basket on top!!!!!! We are planning a trip in 2009, the 65th anniversary from Goldbeach up as far as we can along 50 divs route. :schocked:
  13. So now we know why we like our women, in canvas bikins and massaged with gun oil, all the smells of our vehicles :shake:
  14. Couldn't post photo, a picture of one would be to big. You won't need a tent or caravan, just drop a tarpaulin and set up home underneath the chassis. there were several including the rocket trailer at Coulsdon a few years back. I could damn near park the Dodge under them.
  15. If a vehicle is registered before 1960 and used unladen not for commercial use, I beleive an HGV licence isn't needed.Check commercial classic sites. If a vehicle is over 2.4 meters wide, 8' 2in. in proper measures escort rules apply. Get the LGV driving manual from WH Smiths, thats the bible for the test all info will be in there. Incedentally a lot of Russian kit uses a 'metricated' Dodge T-214 engine. The Russian's got a lot of Dodges during WW2 , or The Great Patriotic War, then swiped the engine as their own. :dunno:
  16. Theres a very similar one at Chatham Historic Dockyard, a 1943 beast. the mount dosen't have the clip racks on the back.
  17. Thanks Marty, my Dodge WC51 appears in various guises depending on who I'm playing with at the time. I do have an intrest in communications in general.
  18. Ca va mon v :-D Crapuds rule . Last time I got over with vehicle was May 9 2005 with the Dodge, and the Garrison. People over here still talk about. I hear Richard is organising something soon. Great what the rock needs. I show the dodge in Force 135 colours. she will be off to Ieper as support vehicle for a Passendale Remembrance march. A lot of Good jersey men died so I will honoured and proud to fly the flag. I always spend sometime at Lothregin. People are posting photos of British vehicles in German use else where. I've put them on to CIOS site and Occupation memorial site. We probably know a lot of the same people, say hello Denis Le jeune next time you see him. and raspberry's to a few other, Oh I miss the Island poltics, you couldn't write a soap opera of it, no one would believe it.
  19. Hi Daren, I've come to that conclusion. First job will be to sit down and work out what I dont need. If you don't know the ambulance the is a whole heap of extras. As mine is functional I need the kit working, fortunatley the 'specials' are all right. Current thinking is to cut back to good wire and go from there. The truoble is a wire cooked on Friday, that started it off. It also appears the ignition is wired through the fuse box. For some reasons now as soon as the ignition is turned on the headlights go on, then at unpredictable times the fuse blows and kills the ignition.

    So!

ME, for reasons sated. I will be at Ieper at the end of the month for the 90th anniversary of Passendale. The Dodge will be support vehicle. I would recommend, if you can get an invite, go to BOAR in Belgium. Now that is a show for Military Vehicle Owners, no public, great site and great people. The price of kit is also stupendously low. Makes you really belive in rip off Britain.
  21. Hey Siric, that's because you have tracks. I'm sure very few would disagree that 'War and Track' show would be a better name. I supported the show for many years, but when things got nasty a few years ago I decided that as I do things because I enjoy them, and frankly I like to sleep at night without wondering if my kit will be there in the morning or a Quad bike run into the tent at 2am. No more. True the show is under new management, so wait and see.
  22. Hi Neil, try the BOAR show in Belgium at Geel. No public, only vehicle owners, secure area. Cheap beer, and lots of choices. Extremely civilised company, no rowdies.
  23. Well I HOPE your not disappointed, My life is to short and my time to valuable to waste 5 days making money for other people. As a friend of mine said some years ago 'If we don't bring our vehicles, all you have to show the public is an empty feild' time to remind them of that.
  24. Hey, where did you get the pamphlet on fitting radios to the WC51?
  25. Hey Tunnel rat,I know all the sites in Jersey. One of the first lessons at school was what unexploded Ordanace looked like and 'Stay out of bunkers, there dangerous!' What futher encouragment was needed?
