  1. :schocked: An estate agent, bang goes the neighbourhood. :computerterror:
  2. Nigel. CIOS have a Jersey site. Tourism's site is at http://www.jersey.com/ I am also a 'Friend of Jersey' Tourism, so must declare bias. There are also a number of private musuems and collections. The best being Ian Cabot's museum at St Ouen, the L'Etacq end. TWO 3 WHEEL ENIGMAS!! There are also feild works at L'Aleval, known as the 'German Road' and above it at Les Gillietttes. The north coast from Les Lande's round to St Catherine's has various sites on the coast. La Houge Bie has the prehistoric monument and a bunker. As you might gather plenty to see. The Island is 5 miles x 11, bigger when the tide goes out :-D There are also Napolionic and earlier forts, including Martello towers, St Aubin's Fort Elizebeth Castle and Mont Orguil (NOT GOREY Castle!!) Have a nose at Google earth.
  3. Fine, no doubt on that fact. As Roadsure seem to be on the site at the moment, could someone from there give us a explanation of the situation. We all value or licences to much to cock up by mistake.
  4. Not a bad idea. We could ask CIOS and get a guide. BMI are the best airline. I belive Richard Le Brocq has another show in mind. that would be the best idea. Travel costs to the Rock are ^^7£££ :banghead: To quote the ONLY ferry company Condor in the Jersey Evening Post latley 'The company charges what the market will stand' ie We are the only ones tough. There are a lot of good reasonable hotels and guest houses on the Island. Camping is only allowed at registered sites. Car hire is not expensive. http://thisisjersey.com/
  5. OK so what are 'The required standard for towing'? The first and most obvious is that the trailer must brake at at least 50% effeciency. Even this gets complicated a single axle must brake 50% a twin axle trailer each axle must brake 25%. At least they 'aint mentioned the dreaded O licence or Tachograph. I would print out the reply, you have a NAME!! and keep it with the vehicle then if Mr Plod gets uppity say "See them". Know any freindly CPC qualified artic guys? There the best to ask. Not teaching to suck eggs but obviously the trailer must have an air or electric system at that weight.
  6. Welcome the world wide family of Dodge owners will make you most welcome.
  7. Kits intresting though. If you notice a mix of No 3 and 4 rifles.
  8. Hi enigma, this year is the 90th anniversary of the Doughboys landing in France. 21 June 1917 at St Nazaire. The mystic of the Ypres salient is that it was the only part of Belgium not occupied.
  9. Alternatley go visit the BIG Rock Jersey. There is the choice of about a dozen obvious sites, and some not obvious. also have a look at this site. http://thisisjersey.com/hmd/ Crapud's rule :yesmaster: :naughty:
  10. Following the Pal's March to commemartae the 90th anniversary of the First Day of the Somme, we will all be out Ieper (Ypres) at the end of the month for another commemarative march. I have the honour and pleasure to have been asked to take my Dodge WC51 out again as a support vehicle.I know most of us are mainly intrested in post 1939 kit, but to understand WW2 properly it is worth studying up on the Great War, not WW1 as at the time no one knew, and feverently belived, there would never be a second. To quote Laurence Binyon They shall not grow old as we that remain grow old. Age shall not weary them nor the years condem At the going down of the sun and in the morning. We will remember them.
  11. Hey Spood, what summer? Are you sure you haven't caught rust? :dunno:
  12. Nice to know Roadsure value their customers enough to reply. Things can go wrong in the best of situations, the real test is how do they react to fix it.
  13. Hey Darren, I also had trouble with the fuel pump earth. There is a company called Forte on http://www.forteuk.co.uk who make all sorts of stuff including fuel sytem cleaner. Unfortunatley they only supply to trade but I have a local supplier who will sell it to me. The rad cleaner is the buissness. I haven't been able to start on my 101 yet, bloody work in the way, but I reckon I will 3 or 4 hours of deep deep joy before its sorted. I've decide the best thing for now is cut back to good wiring and go from there. It does look like the lighting circuit is the main culprit. Every time I turn on the ignition I get headlights. The only link is the flaher switch and the infra red/convoy light circuits.
  14. I like kids, but the bones stick in your teeth.
  15. God knows Andy :shake: I've a claim in against another driver. My insurance want it to be 50/50 I said basically 'No' so the next bit was 'Well if you don't claim aganist them, they won't claim against you, and we will give you all your no claims bonus back' not Roadsure I hasten to add. But honestly, you couldn't make it up :schocked:
  16. Hey that means someone is having a worse day than me :angel It's bugging me though as well.
  17. Hey John, I'm having my own fun with an insurance company. NOT Roadsure, they have always been all right to me. If all else fails the road leads to the Finacial Ombudsman. you can down load the initial files on line.
  18. Yep Rosemary, If I screw up I do so in style  I used to do film and TV work with horses.
  19. Try this one. Anyone have any idea about markings?
  20. Been sworn at by Princess Anne. Seen Jane LaPortier's undies. Mine was the Dodge on the BBC parading down the Mall on VE/VJ day 2005. Part of the only non military team to fire an official 21 gun salute for HM the Queen in Jersey 2005. Once reassured a man his missing wife would turn up. She did, dead in the boot of a burnt out car. He's now doing time.
  21. Yes, 'When you get into the show, mines the green one'.
  22. My Roadsure has up to 5 named drivers. It's also cheaper than ant driver. My other car insurance covers me for other vehicles.
  23. Have you thought about Jolley Engineering electronic points? I fitted them to my Dodge, oh boy are they worth it. Speack to Frank he is a fund of knowledge and so helpful. http://www.classicheads.com/
  24. You mean they CAN be made to close WITHOUT a GAP :shake:where's the fun in that? You'd stay dry in the rain and loose the Land Rover neck from the draught.
  25. I'm glad to see you have the right div markings on her. :-D 50 Div landed on Gold Beach at Ver sur Mer. The road up from the beach is called 50 div way. We are planning a trip in 2009, following our much acclaimed 60th event, to start at Goldbeach and run up as far as we can along the divisions original route. http://goldbeach.org.uk/
