  1. DAMM!! I knew mecenaries were involved in it somewhere! Doing a simuilar hunt To Maly, unearthed British Brown Bess cup grenade launchers. So the idea goes back a long way.
  2. So much kit! So little cash! I know the feeling, thanks mate.
  3. They look more like the old 1960'/70's Navy number 8 trousers. Don't fancy selling a pair do yu?
  4. Does look a bit of a wiring LOO! Still the main parts are solid, looks better/ Two PM sent
  5. No hand signals!! Not if you want to keep it on the ground! :-D
  6. The load carried has an intresting story in it's own right. http://www.ocean-liners.com/ships/imperator.asp
  7. Imagine trying to get that past VOSA?
  8. OH NO! Has someone been letting our Dear Leader near the electricity again!
  9. No not realy, they were diffrent engines completly. Meteor was originally a tank engine, built by Rolls then transfered to Rover, in return Rolls got Whittle's and Rover development jet engines. The whole story over the Beast was somewhat dubious, shall we put it. I know one bill for spares wasn't paid.
  10. That's the one Alan. It was Meteor. There was a lot of discussion and lawsuits at the time. Rolls Royce went after him for use of the radiator, it is their trademark. The car was originally built for someone else before sale to Dodd. The original owner stated quite clearly the engine was a Meteor, his original intention had been to try and fit a Ford Cortina body on it! Spares for the engine were supplied by Avation Jersey, so we had all the details of the engine. Belive me it was a Meteor. Dodd also claimed the car would do 200mph, he even got one well known motoring journalist to print this. However! What the so called expert didn't notice. It was a KPH speedo.
  11. If you mean John Dodd's vehicle, that was shown to be a Meteor not a Merlin.
  12. Just How can it be called 'Less Than leathal', when it can fire Shotgun, Explosive and Incendary. Would clear the streets. There is a clip in the film The Wild Geese where a similar weapon is used. I am a little dubious of the genuineness of the picture. Where they design in the 1930's.
  13. There is also the rebuild route. http://www.pastparts.co.uk/
  14. Welcome Phil, this place will either be a holiday , or nightmare to you.
  15. Weather forcast dry and cool. Ideal, enjoy! I won't have a totaly MV free weekend, been invited to Sandhurst.
  16. B Cards from RLC museum Deepcut. There are also commercial history finders. Cost from RLC £25
  17. Qoute: 'Take one large hammer...' :-D Eight bells of B888 is about the only way to get the relay out. Smear liberaly with bearing fit before refitting, you're grandkids will love you.
  18. I got mine from my local gar spares shop. It is sold as a releasing fluid, not a lubricant. It works particullaly well on disimilar metals, so ideal for Landys!
  19. Coma do a stuff called 'Frost Bite'. Fairly new to me but I've had some recent success with it on stubborn parts. Better than WD40.
  20. Thanks for that. If we ever get past Dodge WC54 brakes, Bedford QL brakes, LDV Sherpa riot van brakes, Peugeout 104 brakes. There seems to be a pattern forming in my life! :banghead:
  21. Can you get hold of a pipe freezing kit? I've hosed one in the fluid a few times than warmed it up. The result cracked all the gunge and it jacked out. A decent trick, get a lump of two by four soft wood and bore a hole out to just over the depth of the bottom nut. When you jack it protects the bar going through.
  22. Sharing with Rosie! there's an offer you can't refuse! :cool2: :flowers:
  23. Some of the big 'Motor homes' must be close to that, or even over. so it must be possible. If you are converting I've heard tell that DVLa are getting picky and insist on inspection.
