    Hello Nige. Think that for the moment the QL will stay with a open load platform, but next year I will have a tilt frame and cover. Guy

    Today I past the technical control (MOT) :cheesy: and now I can apply for a numberplate. After the test I refitted the cabin roof headlining and the spare wheel is also back on its place. Guy

    Hello Kevin , thanks for this nice comment, for sure it was a hell of a job but the result is so special! The windscreen frames where made of 5 very bad frames and the glass is a 6 mm safety glass cut by a local glass centre. I had the old windscreen frames from John Morter butt think that it where his last ones he had. Guy

    Hello Richard; yes it was on the camp site at Etreham we where also there with are bikes! The tilly is owned by "pino" that I know from Normandy and Arhnem 2009,I even had my fist drive with a tilly round the camp site.:cheesy:

    Hello, the Mickey mouse black paint was sprayed and I did use a mask. For the nice rounds you can use this fine blue tape they use in car spray shops, it is very easy to apply. The biggest job then is to mask of al the rest of the paint that has to stay in green. Guy

    Now that I have it a good look think that some extra mickey mouse will be better on the rear section. Guy

    The Bedford QL came finely from under the carport:cheesy:. Fitted the al ready prepared roof and doors and the front windscreens are also back on there place. Next week I go to the technical control and then I can apply for a numberplate.

    Hello Ian, if you start at Nieuwpoort where the Yser flows in to the sea and follow this river almost to Ieper then you are really following the front line in Belgium.     After the holiday in Normandy we are back on the QL, if I want to make the trip to W&P show there is still some work to do! Fitted the canvas radiator funnel and the grill cover, Also put the cupola cover on the roof. These exterior canvas bits where made by Brian Middleton and he made a splendid job of it. The cover with the canvas gaiters is over the gearbox and the cargo floor has a fresh coat of green paint.

    Just back from Normandy with the triumph 3hw and the 2 BSA para bicycles. This year it kept dry but we had a lot of cold wind on certain days, but we enjoyed are trip. On the picture we are preparing to start the commando march from Hermanville sur Mer on Sword beach and walk over Pegasus bridge to the commando farm in Amfreville with the two BSA bicycles. Guy

    Hello, back on the QL. Repaired the front crash bar because it was impossible to find a replacement, 3 sections of the bar where replaced with some new tube and the bar is back on the front of the QL. Fitted the petrol and water jerry can rack back, and started with the canvas bits for the inside of the cabin. Next week we do are annual trip to Normandy with the Triumph 3hw bike and next year it will be with the Bedford! Guy

    Barry, this is really a super combination, maybe when my QL is ready I will have a look at a OY water browser truck that need a restoration. But first I need to complete my QL. Guy

    Hello. Looking for some information about my wireless set 19 that I fond, don't have match information but on the wooden crate there is some information and I think it came out of Italy. It is a Canadian set 19 mk3 from 1943 with some kit with it and spare parts. Guy

    Hello, a little break on the QL as I am doing some mechanical work on a friend his triumph 3hw restoration project . Renewing the wheel bearings and rebuilding the engine.

    Hello. The rear hatch is now almost ready and painted, just need to make the step on the inside of the hatch and ad some little hooks for the tarpaulin cord. Started to paint the vehicle number on the rear and also the blue background for the special service brigade sign. Fitted also the little light that's illuminates the white paint on the rear axle and you can also see the pin for the trailer socket butt this socket will first need some paint. Al these original electrical fittings do work butt I don't think it is wise to drive on today's roads only with the axle light :wow:

    Hello, just had a look at the v-belt I fitted on my QL. it is; La 17x1030 it is a bit thigh and think 1040 may be a better choice. Guy

    some extra work on the tailgate, tomorrow I will make the step that is attached to the hatch and fitting the chain for when the tailgate is half open. The spring that helps to lift the hatch is working very fine! Made also the little hooks to attach the cord of the tarpaulin, and rear lighting is in place but need to connect this lot. Guy

    My progress on the QL for this week! Did some spray work, rear mudguards, front wheel's, rear hatch hinges and the supports for the rear lights. Fitted the wood to the hinges and now I can start on the two lock plates for the rear hatch. The WD tax disc holder is also back on his place and as we don't have to show are road tax here in Belgium I have a sticker in it from the local ex para-commando group where my dad is a member of. :laugh:
