  1. Congratulations Ian with your new piece of British transport, looking forward to see the Morris in the flesh. Guy
  2. Hello folks, made al the seals that go around the engine hood. Had some very bad samples left over and made copies of these bits. Some of the old samples, noting match left! The new canvas strips with the felt strip inside and small metal strips as original Seals in place on booth sides And now we have a well fitting engine cover with some isolation in the inside, will keep the engine head a little bit out of the cabin this summer !!:red: With al these years been exposed to the elements the brake booster and cylinder where in need of a good overhaul, brake cylinder has been sleeved and I replaced the leather seal and valve rubbers in the brake servo. You really need to have a QL workshop manual to adjust the valves on the brake servo as it is not a easy set up. Guy
  3. Bedford QL with a very strange construction on the roof. GUY
  4. Hello Richard, my discovery's I made with the replacement carb was that( if it is a ox carb that I have on my QL) was that the choke valve works just the outer way round! The problem on the set up of the ox carb on the Ql is that when you pull out the choke complete you don't have any choke, and the way round if you put the choke completely in a have full choke. I recovered the choke valve from my old QL carb and that now work's as it is intended. First have to make a test drive to see what the governor will do! Guy
  5. Hello John, here you have the close up pictures of the bracket on the QL and the part number of the new carb I have on my bedford.
  6. Hello John, it looks very match the same as the bracket on my QL, was not in my workshop today and could not take the pictures, maybe tomorrow. Guy
  7. Hello Richard, is the tootle linkage not a bit different on a QL? As I botch a new carb I had to use the linkage and choke valve bits of my old carb. I am not sure what type of carb I botch from John Morther but for sure it was not complete the same set up as my original QL carb. Tomorrow will have a look what the part number is on the box of the new carb. Guy
  8. Yes we can! Will take some close up pictures tomorrow. Guy
  9. Hello John On my pictures you can just see the bracket fitted on one of the rear manifold studs of the QL. The spring is home made, hope this well help you a little bit.
  10. Have been working on the cargo body of my QL, rolled the top and bottom step in sheet metal plate for the front and sides of cargo section. Also made the wheel arches and these will receive some wood on top when I fit the floor. The rolled step on top and bottom of the plate Wheel box Front section Side section
  11. Here is a picture of my ex 3sw now sold to a neighbour. without the knee pats!
  12. Very nice, I looking forward to take my Bedford QL to Normandy in 2014. Guy
  13. Now I think you are a lucky man, knowing what your discovery's where in the engine. Suppose you just ran this engine in your QL as it was, don't think that the cabin was for a very long time over the engine after the restoration! Personally I never trust a engine that have been standing for a long time, bike car are lorry I always want to check the inside of a engine. Butt now you will have more confidence in your engine, nice work! Guy;)
  14. Here we have the rubber u profile for around the glass, only available in grey and transparent. And made also the supports for the rear lights, will use two 7 pin sockets sow that I can easily remove for the rear light. Made also a support for a rear flashing light with a 2 pin socket.
  15. Hi Ian, the glass sits in the frame with a rubber u profile, came from the firm where I had my glass from. will post a picture tomorrow of the rubber. Guy
  16. Have new glass in the windscreen surrounds, used 6mm thick safety glass.
  17. The rear body comes very nice together! For sure you can have sleepless nights when you deal with a problem. Lucky that we have the forum to solve some of are problems on are vehicles. It is a very nice tread to follow, keep up the good work. Guy
  18. Hello, on your link it is the looking device for the inner and other clutch hub. This tool can come handy on your clutch job, but this tool can be made very easy with on old friction plate and one old plain plate sticking together. This is the right tool to pull of the centre of the clutch from the gearbox main shaft. PART NR.61-7014
  19. Hello, the engine is running very fine after some adjustments on the ignition and with the brake servo disconnected. Think that the valves on the brake servo are in need of some service, are replacement? As this truck was never in use on the public highway after military service there was never a provision for extra rear lights. Al that was left was a single electrical wire from the front to the rear of the chassis. This wire was for the single small rear light and the floodlight (white mark on the back axle ). Made up a extra wiring loom to goes from the cabin to the rear and have a fuse box from Holden Lucas spares (as the original) in the place where the dynamo control box normally sits on a QLD. As my QL was a radio type the big dynamo control box sits on to the rear bulkhead of the cabin. extra fuse box Original dynamo control box Made also some electrical provisions for a flashing light for the rear. As I can make up from the reports of outher QL owners that the good cruising speed will be around 40 a 45 MPH, then the after coming traffic will be notified that there is something slower in front. Guy
  20. Hello, a good classic Triumph spares supplier chold have this tool for sale as it is the same tool for al the clutch centres. Guy.
  21. Hello Andy, I don't think that it is a combined part with the clutch lever. Never so such a set up on a Triumph. Normally the valve lifter lever is one part. Guy
  22. Started the engine today but I suspect that there is a problem with the brake servo, it is very difficult to leave the engine turning on idle. Also when I depress the brake pedal the pedal don't comes back completely, I suspect that there is a problem with the valve on the brake servo. Any Ideas what I can do with this brake servo and where to find parts to rebuild the servo and servo valve? Tomorrow I will start to disconnect the servo from the inlet manifold and see if I have some improvement.
  23. I am still looking for a good front crash bar for the front of the QL, mine is severely bend. Are if I don't find one then will have to make a new crash bar.
  24. Thanks Ian for the comment, how is it with your QL ? we are missing your restoration tread. If I have no extra surprises on the QL I was thinking to bring him over for war and peace show! Guy
  25. The rebuild radiator in place and connected, now I can run the engine for the first time in its right place. (Had a test run of the engine in the workshop after the rebuild). All the electrical stuff is working and have a extra loom to the rear for the rear lights.
