  1. It was originally red, I can only guess they left the factory red and were painted green when purchased by the Army.
  2. Doesn't sound expensive to me, thats what i'd probably expect to pay for a used one
  3. Got a couple of first pattern packs but none in as good condition as that!
  4. A great meet up, good to see some new people and put a face to the name. Hope to see some of you over the coming year Definitely something we should consider doing again at some point
  5. Well he hasn't been evicted quite yet, although i have given him prior notice. The web has been in there since I got the Morris over a year ago (could see it though the void where the started motor should be) so perhaps this engine has been their home for generations
  6. Engine and Gearbox split Condition wise it doesn't seem to be too bad
  7. I had a Enfield Mk2 Service Revolver that had been painted for some reason. I used paint stripper and fine wire wool where necessary and to give it a nice finish used some grate polish which after a few coats gave it a nice finish.
  8. Im sure I can sort a copy out for you if you are in no particular rush. Nice to hear of one being restored, is yours ex Army too?
  9. Fantastic project, look forward to seeing more Is that something tracked I see under the Mercedes?
  10. I have a feeling they were 1930s, cant remember where I heard that though I have a pair just missing the case
  11. Decided on Monday to take the engine and gearbox out. I was going to originally take the subframe out with it but decided against it as the engine and gearbox weigh enough on their own. Managed to get it out with a lot of strugling and re-positioning of the crane but got there in the end. Next job is to get the power washer out to remove all the underseal and the attempt to split the gearbox from the engine.
  12. Any updates on this? Doesn't seem to be too much interest :undecided: I'm still up for it in any case
  13. I did have them in mind but I didnt know how far into the re-fabrication/repairs of the mounting side of things they did. That would be fantastic, I just hope they are the same on the C9 as other variants
  14. Lots more taken off and cleaned up etc. over the past week. Had a closer look at the radiator and it looks pretty bad at the base, not sure how repairable things like this are so any suggestions would be appreciated Managed to remove the exhaust manifold without any damage, it seems to be pretty well seized onto the inlet manifold but that is something I will sort later along the line. Rather than taking the whole "cab" to bits I just unbolted it from the chassis and lifted it to the rear of the body where it can remain complete for when I come to work on it. The engine/gearbox subframe is in a very poor state and I am surprised the engine is still held by it. So next job is to remove the engine and gearbox. Steering mechanism removed for ease of taking the engine and gearbox out which also revealed a nice bit of paint. Also removed the engine covers and condition doesnt seem to be too bad so will have to see how it looks when I start taking it to bits.
  15. Repaired, painted and fitted the other door. Also got her running again this time with the fuel from the tank and with the rad fitted. Didnt take much at all before she ran. Sounds awful without an exhaust on and it smoked a lot!
  16. Got cleaning up the tyre pump last night. Was well coated in grease and oil so when cleaned off it revealed a nice bit of original paint. Looks a mixture of a light/faded service brown or sand colour with traces of a green which could either be the engine colour or a late war green.
  17. Cheers! Cheers Ivor, I think ive been spoiled by the fully illustrated parts list for the Gipsy. Cheers for the offer Ivor you'll probably regret saying that. I am ok for the time being but will no doubt need measurements etc. in the future especially for the cab
  18. Not too far, im near Colchester. Is the parts list illustrated at all or just a list? Was hoping some bits in there might help with making up new bits and pieces.
  19. Im on the Essex/Suffolk border and would be up for it. Pub sounds good
  20. Hard top has been fitted and was later primed. Rear door all fitted just need to get some new seals for the glass. Near side door fitted (other side still needs repairing) Finally the fuel tank has been repaired by a local fabricator ( RG Services ) who replaced the whole bottom section, its currently being left with petrol in to double check for leaks.
  21. More parts cleaned up and primed including compressor oil filter, gearbox breather box and carb. A couple of questions: Does anyone know the colour code for the engine paint? Is there anywhere I can get carb gaskets or will I have to make them up? Also does anyone have a copy (preferably pdf) of the parts manual for this or the C8?
