    Norton Big four

Unfortunately my engineer retired and I haven't found anyone else prepared to make one offs or small batches at anything like he used to charge me. I do have his workshop drawings though. Ron
  2. Sean I've also got one of Jan's RE saddles on the way. When it arrives I'll get my guy to make a couple to fit. I see you also have one of Jan's Acumen pillions. Ive already had one cover made, copied from my original and he's making some more as we speak. I'll keep you posted. Ron
  3. Rexene. As it happens I've found some suitable Rexene look a like material and hoping to get a few made.........I wasn't trying to put you off canvas to sell you one......They will soon sell anyway.😀 Ron
  4. Frank's work is excelent but I'm quite sure that canvas seat covers on a WD motorcycle is a Myth. The canvas covered motorcycle saddle was made by Wrights as a gun layers seat in an armoured vehicle. Maybe one did make it on to a motorcycle, but I've never seen it. Likewise the canvas ring that eveyone seems to fit on their petrol tank to soak up spilt fuel. Ron
  5. Those forks have the mounting lug at the bottom of the spring for the wrap round lower headlamp stays on Velo Webb forks. Ron

    Triumph 3SW

Yes something like that, but I guess you can work it out from the bearing it sits on. Ron

    Triumph 3SW

It'd fifficult to get to. But I make the outer diameter 2 1/2" (63.5mm) Ron

Pawel the 1939 list is for the civilian 3S and 3H models (Rubber mounted handlebar). For the WD SW models, the same Triumph forks were used but without the rubber option. The 3HW were mostly fitted with"bought in" Webb forks. Personally I would take no notice of what is produced in India. Ron

    Triumph 3SW

    No it wasn't Pawel. Ron

    Triumph 3SW

It's all terrible quality and life threatening!! I've even seen Indian made forks where the grease nipples are cast into the lugs???!!!! Ron

    Triumph 3SW

OK Pawel, I get it now. Two qustions about the Indian forks :- are the lugs proper steel castings/forgings or more likely just sand cast iron? And were they assembled in a precicion jig?? Ron

    Triumph 3SW

No Pawel, my confusion is the actual forks. If I'm reading this correctly? Your green forks are Triumph, Your blue forks a replica Webb forks. But you say they are the same width.....That can't be so! Ron

    Triumph 3SW

Yes the site was shut for upgrades for 24 hours. But I'm confused with your pictures and measurements? The WEBB forks fitted to 3HW are much wider (Aprox 159mm between the top links) than the Triumph forks on the SW models. (Aprox 126mm between top links) Your green forks are not 3HW but your blue forks are?? How can they be the same width? Ron???

    Triumph 3SW

Here is the Triumph top part. Still with two nipples but different orientation. Ron
  15. Ron

    Triumph 3SW

I don't know then? If that is a Triumph part? Is it wide enough for 3HW forks? I'll take a picture later, but the Triumph clip has 2 nipples I think but not the same as 3HW. Ron

    Triumph 3SW

Is that a 3HW Webb fork top clip? It looks more like a Triumph part?? You can clearly see the hole in this scan, and my top clip with the grease nipple on the right side. Ron

That is not a cup Pawel, it's a cap.You have two cups and two cones for the balls to run in. Then a top cap as a dirt excluder/Watershed...... Like a large washer with the edge turned over.
  18. It's probably festering in someone's shed? Ron
  19. Here it is before I acquired it. The previous owner even used it on the Arbuthnot Trial. The next picture is the only other one That we know about, The owner at the time didn't respond to emails from Jan or me....It must be still out there somewhere. Ron
  20. Blimey where did that 10 years go? But since this thread has been revived, here's some shots of my WD/L. Ron
  21. The census number is alocated against your frame number (not the engine). Contract C6125 was for 2000 machines but the serial numbers are complicated by being split between two groups and with gaps in the numbers. The first thing would be to provide a clear picture of your frame number (not what might be typed on a document). Ron
  22. Mine was also repatriated from India, along with my Welbike and Norton Big 4 sidecar body. A few Parabikes, Welbikes and my sidecar were found by Richard Miller who used to visit there regularly. His father Peter, wrote the book "From Welbike to Corgi" Somewhere I must have a snap shot of the Parabike. Ron
  23. Yes I also had a pleasant chat with him when I ordered some Pyrene extiquisher transfers. Here is my Parabike. From memory! What looks like a "P" Lex confirmed as an "R". Ron
  24. Adrian, the guy who was making the repro grips and transfers for Parabikes and Pyrene is Jeffrey Wilson. It's A while since I bought stuff from him, but the details I have are:- Tel 01458 251808 Email silentelms@hotmail.co.uk Worth a shout. I'll get my serial number for your register later. Ron
  25. Try Vale Onslow.....You never know your luck. http://valeonslow.co.uk/ Ron
