    It's all terrible quality and life threatening!! I've even seen Indian made forks where the grease nipples are cast into the lugs???!!!! Ron

    OK Pawel, I get it now. Two qustions about the Indian forks :- are the lugs proper steel castings/forgings or more likely just sand cast iron? And were they assembled in a precicion jig?? Ron

    No Pawel, my confusion is the actual forks. If I'm reading this correctly? Your green forks are Triumph, Your blue forks a replica Webb forks. But you say they are the same width.....That can't be so! Ron

    Yes the site was shut for upgrades for 24 hours. But I'm confused with your pictures and measurements? The WEBB forks fitted to 3HW are much wider (Aprox 159mm between the top links) than the Triumph forks on the SW models. (Aprox 126mm between top links) Your green forks are not 3HW but your blue forks are?? How can they be the same width? Ron???

    I don't know then? If that is a Triumph part? Is it wide enough for 3HW forks? I'll take a picture later, but the Triumph clip has 2 nipples I think but not the same as 3HW. Ron

    Is that a 3HW Webb fork top clip? It looks more like a Triumph part?? You can clearly see the hole in this scan, and my top clip with the grease nipple on the right side. Ron

    That is not a cup Pawel, it's a cap.You have two cups and two cones for the balls to run in. Then a top cap as a dirt excluder/Watershed...... Like a large washer with the edge turned over.

  13. The census number is alocated against your frame number (not the engine). Contract C6125 was for 2000 machines but the serial numbers are complicated by being split between two groups and with gaps in the numbers. The first thing would be to provide a clear picture of your frame number (not what might be typed on a document). Ron
  14. Mine was also repatriated from India, along with my Welbike and Norton Big 4 sidecar body. A few Parabikes, Welbikes and my sidecar were found by Richard Miller who used to visit there regularly. His father Peter, wrote the book "From Welbike to Corgi" Somewhere I must have a snap shot of the Parabike. Ron

  18. Well John Brewster makes hardened cup and cones for Triumph steering stems. Maybe with patterns he could make some ML items? Ron
  19. Well I calculate the nearest equivelant OD to be 40mm. If you give me the width of the cup, I'll get advice from Darren. Is there a step at the bottom of the steering stem? ie a bigger ID for the bottom bearing? The amount of balls is academic if we are looking for a sealed ball race. Ron
  20. It's not that mine hasn't adheard Lex, but the glue shows through opaque as the transfer is mostly transparant. I learnt the shiny varnish trick when it was too late.......Same thing applies to the Norton transfers. 😬 As for the headstock ball bearings races,. You put just a small amount of load on them with the top clip and once the pinch bolt is tightened on the steering stem, they wont go anywhere and will probaly last a lifetime without further attention.   21. Here is an original tank and the transfers I got from "Classic Transfers" Ron PS with regard to the headstock bearings. It might be simpler to fit standard ball bearing races with the appropriate OD, ID, W. I fitted sealed bearings to my M20 many years ago....Fit and forget.     Yes I only calculated the number based on the frame and census numbers running in sequence. It's just a best guess without proper documentation. Cheers Ron

    Sorry for late response and welcome to the forum. TEC 742 = Triumph Engineering Company July 1942. Frame TL 31772 was the 850th bike from 5495 from contract C13948. I calculate the tank census number to be C887536 Your engine is not the one it left the factory with but is from the same contract.....Which is fine! Regards Ron
