  1. Possibly an LAD within a Royal Signals Regiment unless you are saying one is painted over the other? There was a 13 Regiment Royal Signals post-war so a possibilty. http://british-army-units1945on.co.uk/royal-signals/regiments---major-units-2/13-regiment-2.html C8's are very lare war vehicles and appear to have seen limited war-time service.
  2. You will find a generic layout of a 15cwt radio body in Volume 2 of the Book Wireless for the Warrior. I would assume that it would identical to the layout in a Bedford which are the most common version. Must be pictures on this site. Also look at the article in Wheels and Tracks on these vehicles which may show a view.
  3. Any suggestions what vehicle this came off?
  4. I have seen the 43rd Recce War Diary reference to painting the cans brown and I assumed it was more to do with camouflage rather than signifying content. There may also have been stenciling on the cans. The vast majority of british and canadian manufactured vehicles that went to France in 1944 must still have been painted brown so they were just painting them to match.
  5. Some manuals here. https://robvanmeel.nl/?q=search/node/catering
  6. Considering it had not run since army rebuild in the 1960's thats good going.
  7. Morris would still sell SAE 50 so strange they would recommend you to SAE90. The other two are correct.
  8. There were I believe 2 Daimler Armoured Cars in Pounds Scrap Yard one of which I now have and the other in unknown hands. The attached picture shows one but unless mine has had the wings repaired this is not mine. I also remember seeing one parked under the motorway bridge during the 1990's. Is the other owner on here and does anyone have any other pictures? I believed the engine covered were also swapped and I have the other vehicles.
  9. I was always under the impression that the american army were big users of Silicone flluid so presumably have not experienced any problems. I used it in my Humber Armoured Car and now in my Daimler so it will be interesting to see how it performs on their disc brakes.
  10. I know the source. Fantastic tires but very expensive by the time you get them over here.
  11. The tires look good as well. If they are new production it would be interesting to know where they came from.
  12. The Somerset example is obviously close to you in Wiltshire. The owner will be attending one day of the Trowbridge event at the weekend but with Karrier K6.
  13. Some body will no doubt quote the relevant regulation soon but you can probably say by the time of D Day routine application of disruptive painting had ceased. As Wally states if a vehicle was still servicable what it was painted in made no difference. Indeed by early 1944 the majority of British manufactured vehicles would have still been in brown but thats another subject.
  14. With only a few days to go before bolts have to be welded for all new deact sales I am still looking for a P17.
  15. BSA's only came in at the end of the war so a Canadian example is more appropriate and definately of WW2 manufacture.
  16. Regarding Blank Firing Weapons, the reason I made my original comment is that some blank firers particularly the Sten Guns sit in a grey area of the law and their leagality has never been chalenged in court. You have the argument over side and top venting amongst other things. You can also buy blank firers from europe that won't be legal here so buy from a reputable uk supplier.
  17. If you are talking about firing blank rounds out of alive weapon you will need a full FAC. If it is a made to fire blanks it is either compliant with the current law or the police will seize it. To actually own a realistic replica/blank firer you will need to fit into one of the approved groups.
  18. If you are in the UK a good Bolt would be illegal unless you are a Section 5 Licence Holder.
  19. Does anyone have a deactivated P17 Rifle they are willing to sell.
  20. Have you read the Wheel and Tracks article on SAS Land Rovers?
  21. As per my first post I have now fitted electronic ignition and conventional leads and plugs to my DAC. The Green Spark Plug Company advised which conventional plug to use but obviously the code on any spark plug tellsyou its size, length and optmum temperarture range. If it is oil rather than the products of combustion you have problems.
  22. I recently had the carbs on my Daimler Armoured Car reconditioned and upon fitting them today I noticed that one leaked out of the top cover gasket which could not be cured by tightning the bolts. The petrol could be seen bubbling out. Upon starting petrol could be seen pooling in the throat of the carburetor which could not be seen in the other. I am thinking that the carb is flooding either due to a problem with the float or the valve is not operating allowing the pump to over pressurize the float chamber. Any comments anyone please.
  23. Richards advice as usual is good. Champ Spares amongst others offer rebuild kits. If you have deep pockets and are not in a hurry Carburetor Exchange will do the work.
  24. I currently have a non speed limiter rotar arm fitted and this one is a very tight fit on the shaft hence my question.
