1. The Peerless didn't sneak home in your back pocket then !!:wow:
2. Yes, have found it, but what is someone is prepared to pay, like everything in the world what we want to pay and what we actually pay are different , good looking though, along with FWD and PIERCE ARROW :-(:-(:-(
3. He also had a fully restored peerless he once entered in the London to Brighton many years ago, we went up to see it once, would be interesting to know what it sells for......
4. My partner and I have been on one of the yellow london duck tours, it was funny, informative and my partner really enjoyed it, yes the water was within easy reach of the windows but we payed and we took our chance, that was our choice and responsibility ,it's a shame but we were obviously lucky
5. I was having am browse through this thread and I thought this may be the right place to post these, looking a bit sad, parked quietly in the middle of nowhere
6. What is this temp sender at the back of the cylinder head, only one connection on it ? I've had a word with Dad and he thinks this may be a cut out switch that is linked to oil pressure and or possibly temp, so very low oil pressure and it would cut out, and very high temp it would possibly do the same, depending on the model some had a button on the dashboard to press when starting to do with oil pressure, if that's any help or idea?
7. I'm seeing my dad this saturday,I will ask him if he can help, he use to work for cummins how old is engine ? and what is the vehicle that it's going in
8. Hello and welcome from another pair of cornish and slightly mad rust monkeys
9. It could be a lot worse than that, our bins have turned up with the metal peel back tin lids in the bottom who dosen't know the difference between metal and paper????? and sometimes plastic and cellophane all gets pulped !!!!!!!!!!!!
10. If you knew what was put in paper bins for recycling, newsprint isn't the best paper, its good for cleaning glass as well:whistle:
11. Mines a bit simple really--Cornish as Dad and I are born and bred, Made, instead of maid as things need to be repaired and sometimes made to fit
12. :-D Hello there, nice picture, I will show my Father when he's here next, he rebuilt the Clay museums Peerless any ideas where it was taken?
13. :embarrassed: Sad state of the world, fight for right to do what you want, then they do exactly that, what ever they want they take
14. I showed my father your pics and he was very interested, these are his thinkings about the engine, he also said to look between block 2 and block 3, is there an engine number between them, that's where he found his engine number on the peerless a bit hidden away,,,
15. Is the stroke right at 4.75, because this could mean a fast rev engine,ie. Peerless is 4.5 by 6.5 and this revs at about 1000 rpm, the crankcase, camshaft come outside the cover, could be an auxillary drive? the magneto looks similar to a Bosch DU4 which turns clockwise, could the carburettor be Claude L Hobson? theres's a small updraft on the carb this could cause freezing of the fuel ie, vapour goes down to a liquid could it be a marine engine???? or a stationery because there are access panels on the side crankcase???? you could strip the top half of the engine without taking the sump down any help????
16. :-) I think I remember father saying the Americans used vehicles like the peerless (and others) with their solid tyres to drive around the streets carrying a form of magnet underneath to clean up objects that would damage pneumatic tyres
17. :-)I'm not sure about Argentina, I will ask, seeing him tomorrow, we still have copies of the instruction book and parts list, but I don't think there are any actual metal parts in his possession I will ask, but i think the moulds for the radiator are still at the museum , depends on what is needed, he could tell you what can made to fit i.e rings or what valves to use, he extended some to fit, the spare fan belt and such was kept at the museum i think that was made of leather parts instead of a singe piece they have on it now, list of questions to ask and will get him to answer them!!!!!!!
18. Just shown father your thread , very interesting , do you have a manual for the J type?
19. Father has used an egg in a radiator before now as an extreme emergency measure, don't know exactly what you would call it, poached, boiled fried?!
20. We would like to agree with the above, the Peerless Father restored was original in the metal department, but the cab and butt were restored to civilian use, it spent most of it's working life as civilian but was it used for ww1 no one alive to tell us!!!
21. Have you tried downloading 'open office', they have spreadsheets and you can make your own templates, I made a template for 8 up address labels maybe you could make up something from there?
22. :-\ Welcome to the forum , hoping for the lottery myself !!!! up for sharing!!
