  1. some superb looking WW2 wrecks here...some we've seen before but many not .. ..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MINy_WK8vQI reading a thread on here quite recently I'm sure I read how rare 'Jumbo' Shermans are ? at 1.49 of the film is a picture of an abandoned Sherman in Croatia...and the glascis plate definitely looks 'thickened' to me ? is this one a Jumbo maybe ??? Well worth watching as the film also gives all the map references of where exactly the wrecks are / were when the pictures were taken Oh boy am I the only one who harbours fanstasies / dreams of mounting rescue operations?
  2. I may be wrong but ?..... I don't think they were ever used in their designed manner ? I know they were used as simpled floodlights in one operation (possibly the Rhine crossing ?) but I don't recall them being employed for what they were originally intended??? ... Always ready to be corrected though !
  3. well as Rick says ...I fully appreciate a Tiger may well be worth millions and can and will only go up in value too... ...... but this..... isn't a Tiger is it ? What it is. is a pile of assorted Tiger bits....... that when eventually put with a whole STACK of other bits and an equal stack of money...will feasably become.... one day ....another Tiger...( I do appreciate that reading the description it would seem there are a lot more parts available than there are pictures including fair chunks of the hull and turret ?? ) ..but it is an incredibly long way from being a Tiger at the moment..even folk with incredibly deep pockets ( like Mr Wheatcroft) may baulk at such a project I feel....when this is finished it's still not going to be a genuinely 'real' Tiger..... I'd say over half of it, probably more is going to end up being reproduced ... For all the incredible amount of money and many years of very hard work it's going to take for that pile of bits to resemble a Tiger ? ?.....I think I'd settle for that awesome replica those Ruskie fellas made a few years back ...
  4. That is one serious 'needs some work' project I've bought a few motorcycles that came in cardboard boxs and assorted armfuls of other bits and I've had quite a number of Landrovers over the years in varying degrees of that old euphemistic chestnut of ' dismantled and ready for renovation ' .... and I thought they were quite bad enough to sort out 'what I had and more importantly, what I was missing' ! ...I can't see a price but I can start to imagine what it'll be ......... what do others on here reckon he's asking/expecting for that pile ? £250,000 ? more? ...
  5. who the hell in their right mind would mount one on a mule ????? hahha...I hope t'chtrist they took it off his back before firing it
  6. Thanks Toner ....you can add the Jeep to your list As I asked originally tho.. ...I wondered if any of you recognised her as belonging to someone else or as one that had been genuinely sold recently ? then again I supposed a fella like that could just troll the web for an old advert to take the picures off ah well..... .........and there was me thinking I'd found that bargain Jeep that I keep telling myself is waiting out there for me somewhere
  7. I must admit to a real mixture of feelings when I see such a yard as that .. ...firstly I hate to see all those wonderful vehicles disappearing into the dirt ... ...but the other side of me is going " ooo! ooooooo! oooooooo! looky looky looky!!!!!! " I have to admit to having spent many a very memorable hour or 50 clambering over and through such yards in the years gone by..... I love the thrill and the shiver you get up your back when you start to mooch such a place Every time I think " ah there can't be many yards left like that ".... ..someone comes along with pictures like this to prove me wrong
  8. I think that just about sums it up then ......the whole site is a fake I reckon ...... Get this ... I too thought £8800 for that Jeep seemed mighty cheap so.....I dropped 'Sam Adams' the vendor an email.... Sam quickly replied that he hadn't sold the Jeep and he would take a good offer of about £8 grand for it ..... Sooooo ..... .. I asked for more info on it such as "was it a genuine 1944 ?" and ..."what work has been done and are all the bits such as engine / gearbox etc all genuine 1944 or have they been rebuilt replaced /etc etc " and "is it a Ford or a Willys or a mixture of the 2 ?" ,,,,,,,,,,as I guess most of you would do before going to have a proper look at the beast Back came a reply .... "The Jeep is genuine and I totally rebuilt 2 years ago ....I now am in the Royal Naval Air Depot at Yeovilton preparing for a very dangerous mission to Afghanistan and the Jeep is here with me ....I am not allowed to show you more pictures as it against the Army law to take pictures in this secret place and you cannot see the Jeep but it is good..........I can send you the Jeep in a military lorry free of charge and this is a good way to deliver and you can be sure you get the Jeep no damage.....all I need is your full name and address and your bank details then you can transfer the money to me and you can deliver (sic) the Jeep ..." Well now ...... ...I just do not know why I am sitting here dithering around .best I get on and send him the cash PS: It did cross my mind to have some fun with this fella and see how far down the line I could tow him before telling him where to get off
  9. Has anyone ever used this site ? http://www.armybazar.eu/uk/ click vehicles....first page you come to....nice looking Jeep 3rd item down ...... Does anyone recognise this Jeep as belonging to somebody else ? Some thing a bit strange going on methinks ...............buyer be very aware ..... Just wondered if anyone else had ever used the site and how they got on????????
  10. fair enough ..that told me then......... .....at many vintage / classic shows I've been to ... the most interesting vehicles are the ones where they have a story board propped up next to them with a stack of pictures and info showing / telling the story of how they came to be found and subsequently saved ...and from an owners point of view I 've always liked hearing other owners stories about that too ... ....and if you were to do that on here ?.... it's just a different version of that I'd have thought ?......but...if you don't want to share that part of it?.. thats up to you of course
  11. yep def agree...piles of rusty stuff now make the final pictures all the more appeciable ! plus !..full details of:......how did you find it ? where? how did you manage to buy it ? how long did it take to negotiate the deal ?...? ...?....? etc etc hahaha !
  12. sounds to me like a strong case of complacency along the lines of " we got the contract so you have to deal with us so it doesn't matter how we behave " Sadly it happens a lot once a company is given more or less 'sole rights' to something ....... A very poor business manner and attitude I'd say .....
  13. She looks really good and what an unusual vehicle to restore too ! proper envious !
  14. I wonder if I can pick some brains on here ? I've been offered a very straight and very genuine ex army Landrover 90 ..I'm pretty sure it's a 1986 truck... The truck is unmarked and is MOT'd and has lovely tyres on and has had a very gentle life since being demobbed into civilian hands ...the chassis is more or less spotless , no dents or dings on the body and the interior and canvas are really clean and tidy ...she has a standard normally apirated 2.5 diesel in her ..absolutely nothing wrong from what I can see and as I said........ I happen to know she's had a very gentle life being nothing more than an occasional sunday afternoon vehicle and only really in the summer being garaged the rest of the time ...... So !.....I know a bit about Series Landrovers and am usually pretty confident about them ....but . I've trawled Milweb and eBay and other sites and am getting proper confused as to what she is worth and what I should bid on her ???......there seems to be a real variation in price of such vehicles... to give you an idea of what I reckon from my internet moochings?.....I have it in mind to bid somewhere between£2500 ....maybe up to £3000?? ....would I be right? or would I look a right minging toerag bidding that ? ............... or would the fella be leaping about in ectasy at how daft I am ? it's the old story ..the chap is a genuine bloke ..not a dealer and not really into selling at all but he will if the money is right as the truck is hardly ever used ..... If I get it right she'll be mine... but if he thinks I'm being cheeky he'll shut me off and I won't get a second chance to correct my bid so .........any advice gladly recieved
  15. I rather like the Gas Mask and tin helmet lamp too
  16. ..............!!!!!!!!! where the heck was that dug up ????? .it does look a while ago though ???
  17. Take a look at some of these wierd and wonderful creations ... I particularly like the Soviet 'screw drive' tank crashing through a wood.... (it uses the same idea as an American logging / agricultural tractor that I have seen elsewhere on the WWW) and the (also) Soviet 'Nuclear battle tank' definitely should have made it into a sci fi film and oh yeah ! check out the 'tri cycle' Sherman ! I'll bet no one has restored a Sherman in that guise yet ! (nor ever will I reckons either ! ) http://jalopnik.com/5978658/the-ten-strangest-tanks-ever-built
  18. Ah! so thats where they've go to ! .....I paid for them months ago and the shipping and import tax and everything .......but ....eerr ... .. I do seem to have lost the receipt
  19. It's starting to look proper grand I wouldn;t imagine you'll have a lot of trouble to sell something that is well 'out of the ordinary ' .... How about touting her to a few of the museums especially any that are based on former airfields ? The only downside to such a great little vehicle is although she'd zoom about lovely on tarmac or concrete or at the least a hard surface of some sorts ?.... I guess she probably isn't going to be very agile when 'off road' such as a lovely wet summers day at a rally ! . ..but.........I wouldn't worry cos there's always something else at such shows to give you a tow ! PS: Just a thought though... I have seen these before fitted with 'dual' rear tyres so thats an option maybe ?
  20. It's really nice to see a Diamond T done as a cargo truck too I think ..( and yes the paint scheme is cracking !) Don't get me wrong ....Nothing at all wrong with wreckers .........but would I be correct to think most folk restore them as wreckers rather than a cargo version ? ??
  21. Jim Clarks Sherman near Thornbury ?
  22. and isn't £4700 for that bike really high money too ?.......from the little I know of James bikes they're not really that rare are they ?
  23. I was once sent a wonderful birthday card with a cracking picture...... .....there was an obviously tired and very p***** off and oil smothered fella sat dejectedly on the floor of his garage in front of a big rusty axle and wheel attached to an equally rusty old Landrover .....and there was a massive lump hammer lying on the floor next to him ...the fella was saying to the wheel ........ " I, am a resourceful and highly trained mechanic of many, MANY years experience!!!....and you are just a rusty lump of iron !.........SO !! are you coming off or am I going to have to take the big hammer to you ?!?!?!?!?!?"
