  1. http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?25137-Latest-Acquisition-77-Pattern-Para-Smock/page2 More or less the same as my one. I shall be interested to see what it sells for.
  2. Picked this up cheaply in a rummage pile at the War & Peace Show. Seems to be made from the same materials as this pouch here: http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?34262-Mystery-plce-pouch Although I am reliably informed that the above pouch is for a compass, not a field dressing. Another interesting feature is that it seems to have the same brown cloth trim found on the Mk2 S6 respirator haversack. It measures approx W15cm, H10cm and D5cm. I assume it's for carrying something relatively delicate. There are no visible markings. Any ideas? Cheers, Mark
  3. One for the hardest of the hardcore collector of British tank ammunition: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/322136683066?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649 I will also swap it for one of the following: 3 Pounder 2CWT cartridge case 3.7" Mortar cartridge case 20 Pounder cartridge case 17 Pounder AP projectile - unfired
  4. I think they're Soviet era civilian Aeroflot epaulettes, although I couldn't tell you what rank, etc.
  5. Looking for a Mk2 barrel nut - the type factory fitted to the MkV Sten gun. It had a different arrangement of cooling holes to the Mk1 barrel nut (as factory fitted to the MkII Sten gun) due to the position of the foregrip attachment ring. There's a picture of one here: https://www.marstar.ca/dynamic/product.jsp?productid=81104 Would ideally like to source one from within the UK or EU. Thanks, Mark
  6. Interesting picture. Thanks. Clearly no self-respecting squaddie of the time would be seen dead without a first generation P58 water bottle pouch. They'd have stopped making them 4/5 years before.
  7. I think the item in the foreground is a 1903 Pattern bandolier. Less sure of the value - maybe £100? The item in the background looks like some sort of money belt. No idea of value I'm afraid.
  8. Nice unblancoed examples of the 1937 Pattern belt, pistol case, (holster) and pistol ammunition pouch. The XL size for the belt adds a premium as well. I'd have said £30 for the pistol case, £20-30 for the belt and £20 for the ammunition pouch.
  9. I recall seeing a fashion 'combat jacket' on eBay a few years ago that looked like it had modelled from a P60 smock as it was very similar. E.g. the ribbed collar. Never seen any since though.
  10. You can see some examples of postwar reworks on the S.98/05 page of the Old Smithy bayonets website: http://www.old-smithy.info/bayonets/HTNL%20DOCUMNETS/German_98_05_%20variations.htm As mentioned, it's probably a Turkish rework: http://www.old-smithy.info/bayonets/HTNL%20DOCUMNETS/Knife_Bayonet_(6).htm
  11. It's a post-WWI foreign conversion of a WWI German S.98/05 Mauser bayonet. Probably Turkish, although the Poles did something similar.
  12. On face of it this is obviously very bad news. However, I wouldn't panic just yet as these are currently just proposals and a lot of things would have to happen before they actually became UK law. I would imagine a lot of people in the Home Office will be tearing their hair out at the thought of the massive expense and difficulty of enforcement when trying to implement them in the UK. Clearly they take no account of the 'facts on the ground' of deact ownership in the UK. The reasons why proposals to crack down on deact ownership in the UK have fizzled out in the past haven't gone away. If the Home Secretary has any sense (well, we can dream...) she'll be telling the EC that the proposals as they stand are unrealistic as far as the UK is concerned and need major revision. PS. Ironically. European Human Rights Law may be of help in this matter.
  13. This has some very serious implications for deact owners if it make it into UK law: http://europa.eu/rapid/press-release_MEMO-15-6111_en.htm For example, deactivated full-auto and many military semi-auto guns will be banned altogether. Everything else will have to be registered.
  14. Hi, Apologies for necroposting... but I have a spare pair of the SAS braces in near mint condition and would ideally like to swap them for one of the following: SAS Armalite Ammo Pouch SAS SLR Ammo Pouch SAS Escape Ration Pouch As I also collect ordnance, I would also consider a swap for one of the following shell cases: 3 Pounder 2cwt 3.7" Mortar 3" Howitzer 17 Pounder 20 Pounder Any takers? Cheers, Mark
  15. Re-opening the fascinating subject of Sten pouches... I was lucky enough to find a very reasonably priced example of the rare left-hand RAF Sten pouch in a rummage box at W&P this year. So for my own amusement I have put together a putative 'RAF personnel armed with the Sten Machine Carbine' webbing set. For reasons unknown the right hand pouch has been overdyed (not blancoed) dark blue.
  16. Sten specific magazine pouches came in two flavours: grey/blue ones for the RAF and khaki ones which are actually cut down RN Lanchester SMG magazine pouches. The former were WWII production. The latter are slightly more mysterious and may be postwar conversions. I have a left and right pair of the RAF pouches (the LH one has a sub-pouch on the front for a Mk1 magazine loading tool) and neither have internal dividers. Sten magazines were mostly carried in ordinary MkIII 1937 Pattern basic pouches.
  17. John Allison, organiser of the British Shooting Show: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-kent-33668649
  18. It's been announced on the W&P Facebook page that the show will continue next year under new management. Not at the Hop Farm though.
  19. FYI. You might want to do a bit of reading up on the UK legal situation re. gravity knives. I've done a quick google which suggests that possession in itself isn't illegal, but any form of sale/transfer is.
  20. A recent acquistion and quite an interesting thing being sort of like the offspring of '75 PLCE ('1972 Pattern') and trials nylon '58 Pattern. Can anyone give me some more info on what specifically would have been carried in it? When were they made / issued? There's one main compartment, a second one behind it that fastens with velcro and a small one at the top with elastic loops in it. (For batteries?) Cheers, Mark
  21. Silvermans appear to have finally found their stash of nylon P58 poncho carriers. If you've got £65 burning a hole in your pocket... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/nylon-58-pattern-webbing-most-parts-SAS-Falklands-1970s-dated-very-rare-/181695002109?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&var=&hash=item2a4dddb5fd Not sure what that belt is either.
  22. Indeed. There were three different types of ammo pouch and two different types of yoke, water bottle pouch, pack, kidney pouches and poncho carrier. (Plus early belts with green anodized hardware) Then there's the late 70's trials '58 Pattern made in nylon for the truly hardcore...
  23. Seconded: very nice. I do like early DPM. Made circa 1970-71 I believe. I have a James Smith made OG one with the same brown lining found in the DPM ones. One of the last OG ones made?
  24. My friend has received the instructions and is happy with them. Many thanks.
