    The core plugs were all changed when the engine was rebuilt 2 years ago! So all I can think is that they were not sealed properly. Thoughts? Jules

    anyone got a good fix for weeping core plugs ? i know the best way is to re do them, but with an engine in and ancillary's in the way its a lot of work ! most annoying thing is, i have had the Rad re cored and i worry about pouring in one of these leak stopper fluids in case it blocks my new rad ! any good advise guys ? Jules

    Thanks Jon & Terry it's my 1942 Humber, so yes, i'll clean the plugs and the carb tonight, runs fine at speed, just won't idle happily seams to 'hunt' so i hope just an easy fix. cheers Jules

    I probably over filled my engine oil very slightly the other day, however this caused oil to enter the top of the carb, as there is a pipe that comes off the valve cover and upto the air intake on the top of the carb. Now she struggles to idle, so it's off to Halfords tomorrow to get a tin of carb cleaner! Is this something that can happen easily? Could I put some sort of filter in that pipe, why do I even need it ? Bloody annoying as she was running beautifully before hand. Cheers Jules

    Hi all What do any of you run your 900x16 bar grip tyre pressure at? According to my Humber manual, it states 15psi in the front. And 19psi in the rear............ But of course they are referring to run flats"............ So, at the moment I have 35psi. But is that to high ? Cheers Jules

    Hi Dusty Your a Star, that list is just what i was after. as regards the research, about 8 years ago i was able to 'retreive' an Anderson Shelter from the garden of a house in Walthamstow, 43 Pearl Road. ( it had been 'raised' after the war) burried deep amoungst years rubbish at the back, were two WW2 Helmets, one having the remains of the NFS transfer but sadly not enough of the area code to read. however inside the linning was the name T. W. Hornnet and a service number......................... I just wondered if he served in that area during WW2 ?

    Can anyone tell me if it is possible to research a certain member of the AFS or NFS, do any service records exist? Secondly, is the a list anywhere of the NFS area numbers, the ones you get on the helmets .? Thanks Jules

    Shame there is no mention of any displays at Duxford or as No signals says anything up North or around Lincs not even a mention of a fly past at EK ? Looks like we are all heading for Bournemouth then ! Jules

    I need to replace 3 of the inner carb 'rubber' gaskets on my humber Solex. Where can I buy a small piece of the correct fuel gasket material ? CHEERS Jules

    Hy Guys a mate of mine has just bought a 1950's Ferguson Tractor and found a Ministry of Supply plate.     Just fitted an Early Air filter to my Humber, sad to say, for the time being at least i fitted an inline modern filter, was a perfect fit for only £10, at least this lets me run it and in the future attempt to make the bellows................unless you feel like making two ? Jules

    I tried Speedy a couple of years ago, they had non then, yes, they are very rare, I had to find one for mine, I was lucky to find one in Norfolk. Though I had to have it rebuilt, that cost £130, so £200 for a brand new one seams a very good deal, if it's ready to bolt on ? Jimmy, do let me know what else you need, as I have quite a few spares.     Whilst working on my MCC PU8, i have found a very good example of the mid war British Camo scheme, i hope the photos do it justice, but when compared to Mike Starmers colours at the back of his book, the two colours look like Khaki Green base and Tarmac disruptive. i will remove more of the lime green post war colour, but again thisis a really good reference.
