Whilst stripping my Morris PU, I found that the CAV VCB is a Type 75c - 19x and is larger than the standard WW2 type we normally see, ( Type 75b - 19x) ? can anyone tell me why this other type may have been fitted in my PU, its been there for a long time, if not for ever ? I do know my truck was a wireless version, so could it be to do with that ? is there a list anywhere ot website dedicated to C.A.V ? here's a few photos, and for those of us interested in original paint samples, a very nice sample of Khaki Green No3 behind the CAV unit on the mounting bracket. cheers Jules

Hi Folk's just to keep the ball rolling, I have not been idle ! I been busy stripping the PU, all the front tin work off, blasted and primed, rad out and awaiting re coring, forward bulkhead out, blasted and primed as is the main instrument bulkhead. I am having a real fight getting the steering wheel off the shaft, it's on a taper, with a woodruff key, but really need a proper puller. lots of the smaller assemblies are cleaned up and primed. will add a few photos later. Dave, if you want, Kerry at R&R (Warpaint) has my samples of SCC2 and SCC1a which Mike Starmer produced. I think they are the best you will find. I have my paint mixed as 'dead matt' but it's up to you. regards Jules

The colour you are refuring to is Khaki green No2, I have just got Kerry at R&R to mix me some to an original sample found on my Morris PU. It's a strange colour, in some lights it looks green, in others it looks brown. I was helped by Mike Starmer who has spent many years researching WW2 British paint colours. Jules

Nice Job Davey I have got an MW engine to rebuild after Christmas, so may need a few pointers if you don't mind. I noticed in an earlier post you mentioned Totec tyres and them having, or getting Dunlop Track Grip tyres in ? as you have probably found out by now, finding any new Dunlop Track Grip pattern tyres are like Hens teeth ! I expect they meant bar grip 900 x16 ? Any way keep the info coming, I must update my Morris PU resto thread Jules

Hi, no slightly wrong, I had a Fordson WOT2. Light warning truck, looked similar .

Tunic is a standard Airman's Blouse of the post war design, introduced late 1940s and used through into the 1970's there should be a white label inside giving a date. Badges, would vary depending on rank and trade. Jules

Well here is the start of my latest Morris restoration, as always I will try and add info as we go, I expect this to be a 12month project, and I have started with some smaller components that are already restored. so basically it is the PU version on a morris chassis, so will sit nicely next to my Humber PU as the back end will be the same. as it stands, it's reasonably complete, bar the back end, I do have all the original cab, doors and windscreen, the engine turns over freely and has been kept in good order, though it will still go through a full rebuild this winter. so here is a lovely photo of a MCC PU in France 1940, this is what I'm going to model mine on.

Thanks Richard good to know it's going to be an easier job than getting the parts to rebuild the Humber 6 cylinder ! If anyone has a reasonable MW unit please let me know. cheers Jules

I had real trouble with NGK plugs in my WOT2 the V8 engine gets very hot, and the NGK plugs just could not cope, changed to some NOS Champions and all was fine ! Jules

I wanted to fit PETLAS to my Humber 900 x 16, but they would not sell me any when i told then they were for split rims............. ended up with bar grips that have been a nightmare to ballance ! Jules

Thanks Richard I'll try the K seal first, and if no good I'll change at least the ones I can get to. Trouble is, there are some small ones, about 1/2 inch which sit right behind the exhaust manifold, there a pig to change. Jules

Thanks Chaps, i feel slightly better about using a product now, looks like K seal is the best.......... Yes, they are the convex type, and i have been able to give some an 'extra' tap, but there are a few i just can't get straight square on with out taking the engine out ! this is for my Humber 6 cylinder, so do i need to think about quantities ? it holds a lot of water........... perhaps after this i will be able to get some Anti freeze in !
