  1. i watched that and it gives a whole new prospective of our planet up there
  2. working on getting the winch going at the moment, fitting reverse drive between the auto box and winch to make full use of auto box and plumbing in the exhaust system for the j 60,all electrics done
  3. have a look at the website http://www.rememuseum.org.uk/
  4. bit late but the ones on reme museums ward are green not olive drab but slightly lighter with colour coded necks oxy white and acetelene maroon
  5. you are right about 2 classes, unimogs have always been allowed and i think jcb fastracs are in the list as well, both can do 50 mph +
  6. nailed it in 1 ,its still all down to the width issue so making the braking safe is irrelevant
  7. i will admit defeat on this one as i hadn,t read your post 4 so i can see no way legally forward on this subject at the present time or in the near future
  8. thankyou for the clarification on that mike, i will still look into the braking side of it if anyone is interested and will keep updates coming on progress, i can see this would hopefully making existing road registered 432,s at least half legal
  9. the only way i can see to do it all legally is on the 434 as if you fit a winch it can be classed as a tracked recovery vehicle with should meet c&u compliance, but i stand to be corrected :cool2:
  10. according to the specs if you take off exhaust and any other paraphnalier it is still 2.565 wide at the hull
  11. 430mm x35mm thick vented disc with 4 pot caliper to provide braking only, next is to see if it will fit.also saying about bolts coming loose i think a shaft holding device to hold shaft in place will also need looking at
  12. on the gearbox connection side i presume ?
  13. has there ever been an instace of a drive shaft breaking on a preserved vehicle ??
  14. any chance you know the diameter of drive shafts ??
  15. abbot being about 17 tons loaded ?
  16. cool will work it out on all up weight of 18 tons to give a little safety factor
  17. i will have to look into this as space looks to be a premium,we have plenty of scrappers around the museum,i will have a good look at what can be done on the disc job and wether there is enough room to do it,any answers on my previous question as disc size depends on weight and speed
  18. if i,m correct in thinking the average weight of 430 series is between 13 to 15 tons and top speed 26 mph ?
  19. that would be the way forward in that respect i think
  20. exactly my thinking about discs mounted on drive shafts and separate foot brake on drivers floor, will look into this as it could be a little engineering challenge for me
  21. is that the junkman that crashed,i think it is pilot unharmed http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-beds-bucks-herts-14015814
  22. going by numbers of vehicles i would say we are the second biggest collection after bovingdon and yes its a great deal more manoverable than cheiftain and even the cent arv,my favorite tracked vehicle to drive,if all go,s to plan we will be out and about next year with it and the m74 at selected shows
  23. yes i think you are right there, never thought of that
