    Thanks for the advice everyone. Is it Banisters from East Sussex who have the seal kits. Next question is the correct grade of oil to use, is it something like Shell Tellus Oil (hydraulic fluid)?

    I need to rebuild several of these master cylinders this summer for my Sabre project. Can you please tell me why you need to replace the seals in the Land rover master cylinder for the CVRT ones. Is it a different type of rubber used?.

    Was at Withams last week and the gaffer told me they are getting 400 Diesel CVRTs ( all the non-turreted versions), but they are all going to the Jordanians.

    Looks like mission ##possible.;-) I have seen E-SPIRE (the sight bits you need)parts on this MOD disposal operator http://www.vwinme.com The come in black peli-cases with STC in red letters on the box. They had a pallet of this stuff about two months ago. Worth a look.

    As the vehicle has been outside for a number of years, do you think you will have a problem with steel bolts in alumilium. From experience the steel makes the alumilium expand and the two weld themselves together. Had this in the sump of a Ford engine, the Olil drain plug was steel and the sump was alumilim and the two welded themselves together.

    This performs the same function as a Clansman DMU. SANIE Stand Alone Network Interface Equipment. The front alumilium plate is removed and a BID/460/1 Crypto unit is inserted. This is to create a secure data network for BATES

    Paul at Withams gave me these prices last week. CVRT Hulls for 750 GBP per ton. or 2k each. (this is for bare hull only) CVRT with bits fitted are 5k each. I think this is about right if you add up the price of all the parts in the tender. Get a CVRT Scimitar hull for 2k, wait a few years for the hybrid to come out, then re-engineer into a Scimitar 1.

    Hi, This will sound completley stupid, but its true........... I purchaces some ECM antennas (like yours) from Ramco, and fitted them to my Snatch Landrover. They got reported to MDP (ministry of defence police). I had a visit from MDP and was informed these antennas are Restricted Items, even the dummy plastic ones(training only). All of my antennas were confiscated from me. So be aware of this........I had to give a 3 page statement to the Police

    Hi Timbo, Your right, they are the bits left over from Scimitar 2 conversions, there were more CVRT Scimitar Rolling Hulls in Withams yard today, they are not restricted items, they are for sale for scrap metal sort of money, had a good look at a Scimitar they had just sold, No Turret, No engine, Not much else, only a hull and road wheels. I think it would be very hard job to put one back on the road, might be possible if you could swap the bits from a Sabre into one?

    I thought the only difference was a Cummins BT6 engine and different gearbox? Surley these are not classified. Must be something to do with special added armour??

    Hi All, I was at Withams the other day and a large number of Diesel CVRT Scimitars and Spartans are being dismantled and scrapped. The Spartans were NEW condition, minus engine and gearbox. Owner says no one wants them, hence scrapping, Bo##ox me thinks, any one know whats going on.

    Chris, It might be difficult to Export these vehicles if they have a stability problem? Did you see the Experimental CVRT Spartan with rubber tracks,That was one cool looking piece of kit. Also the yellow CVRT experimental thingy... Your Scrapyard Pictures look great,do you know how much they want for the Spartan?

    Hi, I went to Withams today to look at the vehicles. Not in the tender sale yet, but they are taking delivery of 300 Saxon AT 105 Armoured Personnel Carriers. They have just been totally refurbished to NEW standards and they failed a Stability Roll Test so the entire Fleet of Saxon AT105s is going to Withams. With 300 for sale i think there will be a few in the next tender sale. Intersting to see how Paul prices them. :schocked:

    Hi Chris, Why are the Suspension Dampers always missing on these vehicles???There was a MOD sale before christmas in Stafford, one lot had 40 sets of CVRT Gunners Night Sights(image intensified), yes the big long one with gen 1 tube.Do you know ho got these and how much they want for one.There should be more released soon as the are part up the update programme for BGTI Sights.

    Yes totally Agree with this, its like someone impersonating a Police officer or a Doctor. My interest is with the Engineering of equipment and Restoration of vehicles (i did a engineering aprentership with BAe systems)and not impersonation, suppose that makes me Sad byt not a WALT.

    Thanks ian2b, If a battery is dry stored, ie no electrolyte, do they still have a shelf life,or are they indefinite life untill activated by acid??

    Thanks Chris. I read an article by Laserwars Paint ball site , they had a broken down FV 432 and towed it over 3 fields with a Humvee. I think i will take your advice and see Brian at Withams and get a runner or one with dead batteries as my sankey trailer generstor has a set of FV 432 batts which i can jump start from. Failing that do you still have your A frame for sale.Might need one soon.
