  1. A 3 point turn is not a requirement for class H test. Being able to reverse arround a corner is.
  2. You may take the test with a passenger, but that passenger must not help or interfere in any way. It would be best that any passengers you have are not connected in any way to the coms of your vehicle.
  3. Lord Lucas, prince of Darkness stock all the bulbs you'll ever need for a Saracen.
  4. Interesting photos, looking closely the smoke dischargers look identical to those of the Saladin
  5. I tryed my Saladin BV when I first got it. Stalled the engine when I plugged it in and pegged the ammeter :-o 75amps plus is a lot of current. Took 3 minuts to boild but cost me £5.00 in fule to make a coffee
  6. I use Argon as I use it for tig welding at work. This comes in a large blue bottle at 3000 PSI. However, you have to rent the bottle from a supplier, in my case energas. The gauge I bought just for accumaltor charging, you see them on ebay somtimes. New they are arround £500.00.
  7. Good MV, I camp in mine at a few shows. You can just get a hamock to hang from the drivers side hatch to the rear door for sleeping :-D :-D Car license as its historic class. I use Roadsure for in-suwer-ants. So far, after about 10 or so years of ownership I've never had to recharge the accumalators on my Saracen. I have to do it almost every year though on my Saladin. You need a pressure gauge that gose to 650 psi. An addapter to fit on the end of the accumalator and some high pressure hose. The accumalators, with no oil pressure in them should be arround 525 PSI. How often you have to service any MV depends on how often you use it. Some years you'll get a thousand miles plus, other years you'll be lucky to get 10.
  8. Agreed John :-D Dispite the state that mine was in when I bought her (tree growing in the fighting compartment!!) she was well worth the money and the time spent sorting her out. Pitty she's back in hospital  Got a leeking oil seal on a wheel station and 3 brake cylinders need the oil seals replacing 'again'!!
  9. Well!! you did well with the oil last year........
  10. Carl and I are going down on Sunday. Carl in the Ferret and me in the van. I've put some Mollycent asside for you Clive, its in a milk bottle so dont go putting it in your loo http://www.hmvf.co.uk/smf/Smileys/classic/cool2.gif[/img]
  11. Count me in, I'll come down in my Ferret. If were camping in woods then I'll bring me hammock and sleep up a tree somwhere :-D
  12. Clive, I'll try and remember to bring a small quantity to Dorset for you. Only 19 days to go :-D
  13. I tryed getting a drum of colloidal graphite, when I finaly found a supplyer the quote was just out of this world :schocked: Over £200 plus carrage plus VAT.. That was arround 6 maybe 8 years ago so no idea what it is now. I've been using Fuchs 'Molycent Concentrate' and although it was arround £130 for the 25 Ltr drum we still have 2/3's of it left. We add arround 5% only when we do an oil change. We top up with plain oil. Been using EP90 for all bevel gears from day one. The Moly dose help with noise reduction.
  14. That dosn't look good Chris!!! I should be able to mend it for you  Not botherd cleaning mine yet, effort is being but in on Ferret servicing.
  15. How about welding a solid slug of steel in them? They efectivly become solid. A slot can be welded up and a pin can be removed. As Chris says, they are just tubes, anyone with a tiny knowlage and a lathe can soon knock a set up.
  16. Grasshopper, the 4 screews that were holding the cap on defenatly had a plain portion on them from new, they were not worn. The plain portion is much longer than the thickness of the hub cap matterial. I know they can come lose, I check them regular. As it happend one was missing on the right hand side, but that must have fallen out when I took the Striker over to be loaded up as there was dust in the hole. The left hand side had been tamperd with, fortuatly its a very minor matter that can be sorted easly. Safariswing, did you managed to shake off some mud from my track or has Chris got that pleasure tomorow?
  17. A secure compound is a very good idea. On the sunday when Chris and I got down there I noticed that one of the little hub caps on the L/H drive sprocket on my Striker was lose. I assumed that it had come lose with driving. After putting up tent and sorting our camp out I found a screwdriver and went to tighten up the 4 screws that hold it on. All 4 screws were too long to hold the cap on and had gained plain sections on them that were longer than the thickness of the cap. At least they did'nt steel the cap and just swoped the screws. I can only assume that another CVR(T) owner had a dust cap that didn't fit :dunno: Not a safety issue, just anouying.
  18. And me :-D http://www.livesteammodels.co.uk/adj/011.jpg[/img]
  19. So's steel, many a steam road roller has been court out on a wet road, the differance though is they tend to be 1 wheel drive.
  20. Group #1 01: 02: Markheliops - God, it's great to be here!!! 03: 04: Phil Lambkin (crew/commander for ArtistsRifles) 05: Fred Kemp (crew/commander for saracenstump) + Stuart (saracenstumps) #2 son 06: 07: 08: Andrew Jeffery - owner of the CVR(T) Striker 09: John Pearson
  21. and I'm the one in the light glasses...
  22. Ahhh, but did you read the small print :dunno: It 'was' very small - just under her chest
  23. Only joking John, however there may be a change of plan. I should be going down in Chris's lightweight. But I walked past the Ferret this evening and thought 'Chris isn't going in his fox, that means he has a spare pass'. Maybe Fezz could take its place. Chris has agreed and is encouraging me :-D :-D :-D
  24. I hope the Striker is on dry ground, I have yet another wheel to change lost a tyre on the way to the low loader pickup point. Considering CVR(T) wheels cannot get punctures, I?ve replaced more wheels than I have done on cars!!!!!
