http://forum.keypublishing.com/showthread.php?t=344 http://www.warbirdsofindia.com/WDY/wbme109hunt.html It appears that the rights of the college to dispose of the aircraft is disputed. I remember reading about it on a now defunct website, it was becoming more & more derelict, when it was first seen by English eyes, in the late 80s, IIRC, it was in one piece, subsequently, the wings & engine had been parted from the rest of the airframe. I'd suggest that it's in better hands now, without Western interest, it's probably have been recycled as Coke cans by now. Having seen how the Spitfire recovered from a riverbed was "restored" http://www.warbirdsofindia.com/haryana/ambala/63-supermarine-spitfire-mv459.html I'd suggest it's in safer hands where it is.

  16. Update on the Bulgarian "buried" PzIV, JPIV & Stug III http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/showthread.php?t=272293&page=15
  17. A Matilda II weighs in at 25 tons (29.6 tonnes) Length 15'11" (5.61m), width 8'6" (2.59m) Height 8'3" (2.52m) The NSW Lancers' museum at Parramatta has one they're renovating, might be worth dropping them a line for specifics as to turret weight. http://www.lancers.org.au/site/Matilda_Tank.asp I'd guess that if the whole tank weighs in at 25tons, then the turret isn't going to be much under 3 tons! This guy maybe worth contacting too. http://www.livesteammodels.co.uk/dhmg/mahon1.html
  18. My crystal ball says that the forthcoming remake of the Dambusters will be the worst warfilm ever!
  19. Oz is chocker with Valentine hulls too! Anyway, shouldn't you do something with that Churchill first? (Do I sound like your wife?)
  20. http://the.shadock.free.fr/Surviving_Matildas.pdf That's the list of known survivors, the vast majority are in Australia!
  21. If it's been used as an agricultural tractor, then there'd be no point keep the turret on, just add weight. Lots of the Ozzy Matildas got converted to 'dozers.
  22. Panther Ostwallturm Near Szczecin, Poland. Panzer III, near Smolensk. Lorraine Schleppers.
  23. If you look at how many planes went straight from their factory, to boneyards like Davis-Monthan and the numbers that were scrapped in Europe, with easy access to smelters, it's not so surprising. Here's a lot of Jeeps in Okinawa & Korea. http://www.tahiti-pacifique.com/hobbies/Jeeps-what-bloody-waste.html What'd that lot be worth today?
