Hence I know the question about MOT'ing! There was a short article in CMV saynig the Morris was applicable for an MOT. I never thought it was, but it had to go usual road safety rules,ie brakes work ok etc. The MOT rules for such an old vehicle are very basic safety checks. If you need an MOT get in touch! (But I am on holiday for a week!) ;-)

We have just moved house,specifically on a hill! Above the local flood plain. It prevents me from recovering the M38 I want to get tho as the field is a swamp ;-)

Thats sods law that is, I will probably need an engine for this one, as it has a diesel conversion. Can you keep hold of the gear/transfer box until mid next week, if you have another engine keep that as well, and i will let you know. Thanks ;-)

Steering wheels are like the golden fleece in Jason and the Argonauts. Someone does have a bunch of steering wheels over in Norway NOS, but getting him to arrange payment means and getting them shipped over has been ongoing since february time. Not happening - fast. Yes start a blog on the restoration part of the forum, its always good to see what everyone else is doing, Morris related or otherwise, and post plenty of pictures! Shame you didnt find anything in barns, Ive found a few vehicles in hedges locally Im trying to acquire, of the jeep variety. (See "hedge find") thread in MV Chatter). Nearly bought a Munga, my other half is most impressed-not.

The only undercoat on mine is the yellow chromate primer.

I go and see the farmer where this M31 is . Me-"Ive come to have a look at that crusty old M31 I spoke to you about yesterday" Yokel-"Oh, this thing over here." Me-"No, its in the field over there, isnt it?" Yokel-"Oh I forgot about that one?" Me-"theres another one over there then?" We go and have a poke around the one I originally had a look at, not too bad, a rotten floor and its got a diesel lump in but aprt from that, not impossible. Yokel-"Youre not interested in an Arrows are you?" Me-"Never heard of it, what is it?" Yokel-" Its over there next to that old wartime thing." Casually walking past ,what was in effect a large clump of stinging nettles with a roll cage poking out of the top, I noticed the familiar front end of '44 Jeep. It was totally rotten, been fitted with a rollcage and had an engine transplant, but the papers were there. Yokel-"Some bloke was interested in it a few years ago, but I think its beyond any help." True, it would require major surgery, but nothings impossible, and it depends how much its worth to him, sitting rotting away in the nettles. Moving round the corner we find the other M31 , an earlier version with straight mudguards, but completely b******d. He's got to have a word with his mum to see how much she wants for them......... Needless to say I will be going back next week, armed with a pocket full of cash and a camera. I will keep you posted! :-D ;-)

Firstly what does Nekaf mean when referring to these, and can anyone give me a link to any parts suppliers? can you get replacement body tubs for these, what about engines? Anyone know of any second ahnd or new? :?

It has the original german text with English translation beside it. It stars off with a few pages of history how and when the Wehrmacht obtained british trucks, covers special conversions and camoflage and markings. All accompanied by good quality black and white pics. Chapter 1 includes-Austin, Wolseley, Humber with 13 photos. Chapter 2 is all the Morris variants, P.U., CS8 etc with 21 examples Chapter 3 covers all the Bedfords, MW, OX,OY's, accompanied with about 42 pictures. It also covers other vehicles, all with photo evidence, Albion, Austin,Commer, Ford, Leyland, Guy, AEC, Thorneycroft, Albion, Matador and even Scammels, a favorite on the Eastern front it would seem! Cost approximately £15 including postage, and definitely worth it- unlike the other "Ladybird" book that I read on the subject! There is another book in the process of being published by them, with vehicles used by the Afrika Korps. A great reference book , for the British vehicle enthusiast, as well as people more interested in the period generall. Get it, get a bottle of wine, and put yer feet up! ;-)

There is a conundrum! Ican see why it may offend some people to restore some vehicles as captured vehicles, but surely it is a historical point of view that this happened, especially after a major event like Dunkirk. Or am I missing the point? :?
